not a penny more,not a penny less
Great read, excellent plot with some unexpected turns. The prose can be long sometimes, with detailed descriptions but always interesting and entertaining.Mr. Archer continues to be one of my favourites authors.

Early novel shines -- almost
In some ways, this is my favourite Archer novel -- the plot and the characters are wonderful. The book suffers from his lack of experience (it was his first published novel). The story is slow to get started (considering the length of the novel) and the ending is more contrived than the endings of his later books. Occasionally, the dialogue is stilted, and there are viewpoint shifts that happen without notice. However, Archer is a great storyteller, and this story just keeps moving. Essentially, this is a revenge tale, in which four men swindled by a master con-artist decide to get back exactly what he stole from them. They embark on a series of scams in order to extract the money from the miscreant. The scams are just barely believable, and one of the strengths of the book is the way that the author drags you in and gets you to believe that these exotic plots can work. This is an excellent short novel, with lots of light suspense and much to admire. It is well worth the time it takes to read.

It's a fun read
This was a fun read, the book zipped along nicely, the characters were well wrought. The ending was a total deus ex machina, and was so obvious that I kept willing it not to be, but it was, which took a star off. FOR KINDLE READERS - there are a ridiculous amount of typos in the ebook edition. 111 instead of I'll, cany instead of carry, 1 instead of I, one of the more minor characters is almost always misspelled as Jdrg instead of Jorg. As many as three to a page. This is probably something you should be aware of before buying the book. It's not as bad as some I've seen, but it's pretty annoying.

Enjoyable tale of financial revenge!
I love Archer's writing, and I'm only making it through some of his earlier works now. This is one of his better ones.Summary: an English physician, American professor, French art dealer and an English lord put together four cons to get their money back - penny for penny - from the evil man that conned them. Here's my two pennies worth of what I liked and it's drawbacks:- Wonderfully creative premise, executed with cleverness and fun rather than testoterone driven anger one sees so much of in revenge plots.- Enjoyable characters.- A quick read and page-turning action.- Written back in the 70's. Though this version has been slightly updated. It is a pretty timeless tale, and the only time it distracted me was when they began using some fancy spy radios to communicate - when nowadays they'd just use cell phones.BOTTOM LINE: Enjoyable and easy read - just right for the pool or plane trip.

A fine story, A fine read
I enjoy Jeffrey Archer's stories and I especially enjoy listening to this CD. As a partially sighted person, I rely on book recordings for much of my "reading". The reader of this story turns in a sterling performance and really adds to the fine writing. My only regret is that this is an abridgment; better than most. I'm hoping to find a full recording on the market but so far this wiil have to do.

A Riveting Tale of Revenge and Redemption
"Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less" by Jeffrey Archer is a literary gem that captivates the reader from the very first page and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end. What sets this book apart is its brilliant plot and an astonishing twist that will leave you in awe.The story revolves around four distinct characters brought together by a common goal: to exact revenge on a cunning fraudster who swindled them out of their hard-earned money. Archer's storytelling is not only crisp but also infused with a touch of humour, which makes the book an engaging read. The way he crafts the characters and their individual backgrounds is a testament to his masterful character development. My favourite part of the book is the incredible twist at the end. Archer's narrative is like a puzzle where the pieces gradually fall into place. Just when you think you've figured it out, the author throws a curveball that leaves you in astonishment. It's a true testament to his storytelling prowess and his ability to keep readers guessing until the very last page.Throughout the book, Archer skilfully weaves together themes of justice, camaraderie, and the indomitable human spirit. The characters are not just avatars of revenge but also symbols of resilience, adaptability, and the power of unity."Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less" is a testament to the timeless appeal of a well-crafted thriller. It's a book that reminds us that the pursuit of justice and the desire to right wrongs are themes that resonate with all of us. And the twist at the end is the cherry on top, proving that in the hands of a talented author, even the most intricate of plots can be resolved in the most unexpected and satisfying ways.In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend "Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less" to anyone who enjoys a gripping, cleverly plotted novel with a delightful twist that will keep you thinking long after you've turned the last page. Jeffrey Archer's storytelling prowess shines brightly in this timeless classic, making it a must-read for lovers of both thrillers and great literature. The only thing that makes it age, is the references to the cost of things. Prices that seemed extortionate when the book was written are now everyday!

fare di necessità virtù
J. Archer al top, un racconto da leggere tutto d'un fiato, perché non si può interrompere la narrazione.Il finale è impensabile.
