The rollerball is to reset the mechanism if you use the window break. You can reuse this tool so it has a reset.

Why does the price vary depending on colors?

The cost of the materials could be different. Just like when you buy a car, sometimes the cost of different plaint colors is different. Personally, I'd get the brightly colored ones so they are more noticeable.

Can you carry this on an airplane? I travel a lot.

I don’t think so. There’s a very sharp blade to cut the seatbelt, if god forbid needed!!
