So You Want to Be a Dentist?: What You Must Know if You Want to Succeed in Dentistry

I purchased this book because I've always wanted to be a dentist.However, as in a similar book I purchased, So You Want To Be A Dental Hygienist, it isn't relevant to anyone wanting to become a dentist is the UK.Dentists all do the same job, but training is completely different in different countries. It seems that in the USA, wannabe dentists do a general degree before starting dentistry. You can do that in the UK, but it isn't necessary as long as you have the required A levels.The cost in the USA is also different, with many dentists graduating owing $300k+ in student loans.If you want to read a book because it tells you about becoming a dentist is the USA, then it does have some interesting information. If, like me, you are in the UK, then it was a waste of money as I didn't gain anything from it.

My 13 year old son loved this book. Read it in one night and was discussing the challenge of debt for dentists the next day. Wonderful overview.

I bought this for my daughter who is applying for dentistry and thought it might be good to add to her reading list on her UCAS form. Was very disappointed when it arrived, it is a very thin book and lacks any sort of substance. It's also US centric so feels a bit useless if you are from the UK. It really doesn't teach you anything you need to know in depth, and nothing that you couldn't google in a few seconds. I can't believe the price it is, it's the sort of 'book' that should be free on kindle.
