This is a sound & cat control interface...together. works better than my old signal link & rig blaster ! I use mine on both ,Yaesu 857d & G-90 for all of my Digital modes ! This is the best one cable set up I have ever used !

Does this require any mods to work with the baofeng cable and the UV-5R?

It depends on what version of the Digirig you have. The answer is yes if you have a version 1.5. No if it is 1.6 or later. The current version in this listing is 1.9 so the answer is no. Just identify the model you have because there is no answer that works in all versions.
