I bought it as a gift to my six-year-old nephew, I love this drum. This is a very high-quality drum. Easy to hit with a stick. With the manual, it is easy to play by hand, and you can learn this technique without enough time. The audio is very good.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  This 12-inch tongue drum is a nice-sounding, sturdy instrument. My 6-year-old loves to play it. He’s tough on his toys, so I don’t feel confident giving him fragile musical instruments, but this withstands his youthful exuberance fine. He did manage to take the rubber ball off one of the mallets, but it was easy for me to put it back on. When I hear the cheerful sound of him playing this, I know he’s not getting into trouble.It comes with a booklet with detailed instructions for tuning it, but I didn’t find it necessary to tune it at all, since it seemed nicely in tune right out of the box. I’m a musician, so I’m used to toy instruments being painfully out of tune, but this isn’t one of those. The notes have a lot of overtones, since all the tongues resonate a little when you try to play one note. It has a very long sustain.Here’s a little video of me demonstrating the sound. It’s easy to play something that sounds musical by just picking a rhythm and playing some random notes.

I'm really happy with this Steel Tongue Drum. I love it. I only wanted the larger one, although the smaller ones have a higher pitched sweeter sound. I can do more with this one. Lovely accompanying instrument, definitely, and fun to play alone for a bit.Mostly, we play guitar, piano, occasional cajones, so this one is a nice addition to add to the mix. Comes with a strong carrying case, two mallets and some finger mallets, too. I am really enjoying it.

My 4 year old loves playing with this drum and has free use of it whenever he wants due to the inexpensive nature of the drum. I am an active tongue drum player and was hoping to enjoy the drum as much as him. the only thing keeping me from giving it a 5 star review is how out of tune several of the tone fields are. i have looked at the instructions that came with the drum a few times and the part for tuning is kind of confusing and complicated. Hard to complain seeing as my little boy enjoys it so much
