Getting Your Feet Wet as You Mature in Christ
A unique title that introduces the reader to some of the challenges of Christian growth as we learn more about who God is and more about our personal weaknesses. The author highlights 6 areas we need to address to grow stronger in our walk with God: 1-What is Water-Walking? 2-The Tragedy of the Unopened Gift. 3-Find Your Calling and Get Your Feet Wet! 4-Facing Our Challenges, Conquering Our Fears. 5-Good News for Cave Dwellers. 6-Learning to Wait on Our Big God. This Participant's Guide accompanies the DVD presentations of each subject and can be used as a group Bible Study or for personal study. There is an ebook of the same title that can be read as the Bible study is done.

If You Want to Walk on Water, You’ve Got to Get Out of the Boat by John Ortberg
This book in my eyes was very good and I would recommend reading it. It was written in order to grown your Christian walk with the Lord. My walk with the Lord was more like that of Jonah. I was heading in the opposite direction than the direction the Lord told me to go. However, John Ortberg provides simple steps and will challenge you to step out of the corner of the boat you are hiding in when the Lord tells you to do something. If you want to grow your Christian walk with the Lord, this is one good book to read. This book provides easy, simple words that cut to the quick and leaves a lasting impression on you.

Not a fan
This book is really redundant especially if you have the DVD that accompanies the book. I just didn’t think it incorporated enough scripture. We are using in our ladies art group at church I will not be attending the second session because the book was SO boring.

This book was used for our last Bible study on Wednesday nights. I missed a couple of the nights, so I do have some catching up to do. It does make things a lot more clear to a new Christian like myself. Not sure when I'll get back to it but I will.

THE HOW TO BOOK FOR CHRISTIAN RISK-TAKING!
We are using both the book and the applications workbook, along with the DVD in our small group Bible study. Have 8 couples attending and I must say we are all enthusiastic about the study. Ortberg makes it both enjoyable and educational. A great way to explore what the Bible has to say about taking risks with your Christian life, and how important it is for us to do so!

For Christians considering taking risks
Ortberg's If You want to Walk on Water, You Have to Get Out of the Boat is very readable, six chapters in 190 pages, that address the implications of risk-taking as a Christian.

Highly recommend both the book and the study guide
Highly recommend both the book and the study guide. I've read the book twice (3 years apart) and it made a positive impact both times. I'm planning to read it and use the study guide with my teen son who is struggling to find his path in life.
