Simple but enough information for kids to learn and understand.
My 6 year old enjoyed reading this story, itโs written in a way kids could understand easily with enough information. We also had a lot of discussions with the questions he came up with while reading this book, thank you PragerU and Denis for coming up with this series for kids, we need more of this kind of books because very soon our kids will not be able to learn about our History in schools anymore. I am an immigrant, came to this country by marriage, i learned so much about this country and I feel itโs important for me to teach my kids about the country they are born at.

It's Okay.
Last week my kids asked me why we stood for the National Anthem and I had a hard time explaining it so this book landed on my lap at the right time so I was super excited. My first issue with it was the print quality. Did they print this at Kinkos? Seriously, an anonymous doner bankrolled the book and you guys couldn't find a legit print shop to handle the printing. Did Denis print this himself on the office laser printer? Next time find a quality offset printer and the artwork will really shine. The second issue deals with the content. Everything was going great until the very end when they crammed in way too much information in the last spread. A couple more pages to help the kids understand would have been nice.I wish I could say my kids loved it and can't wait for future books to arrive but it's gonna be tossed in a bin of forgotten books. Great art and a lot of thought went into this but it's not on par with the other children's books out there right now and not up to the standards that PragerU has for its video content. Not done yet. Did Dennis have gray hair as a kid? I get what you are trying to do here but it just looks weird having a kid run around with gray hair in a kid's book. I would also like to see Otto and Amala Ekpunobi have adventures in the future. She would make a great character for your books.

Well worth the price as both a conversation starter and wholesome entertainment for your child.
My 4-year-old loves this book. She asks me to read it to her several times a week. It has sparked so many conversations evertime we read it about our flag, our country's history, national anthem, the pledge of allegiance, and so many other things. For anyone who knows our history, this book will seem too simple. That was my first impression. For the target audience, 3 to 8 year olds(?), however, it is a great point of segue into more history discussions. The action, rhyming, and bold colors keeps my daughter's attention. Some of the questions my daughter asked as we read was what is a fort? Why did we need them? Who were the British? Why were they so mad? Who is Francis Scott Key? (And so many more.)

Well written and illustrated
You can tell just by reading this that the author(s) truly love this country and what it stands for. I want my little girl to understand how lucky she is to have been born here, and how the freedoms she enjoys are the exception to human history, not the rule, and worth fighting for and preserving: this book helps her begin that journey. It's pleasantly illustrated and very well written, and the characters are fun to watch. My kiddo loves it when I read this book. I highly recommend it for you and yours.

My grandkids love this book
I was looking for a book that I could tie into the upcoming July 4th holiday. That is not exactly the direction of this book, but it still fit perfectly in explaining what we are celebrating with the holiday and fireworks. It also gave me a way to explain the Star Spangled Banner and pledge to them.It gets 5 stars because my grandkids go looking for this book and bring it to me to read. The 6-year old also informed me that the blank pages at the back are for coloring. He drew a picture of Otto and Dennis there.
