Is this big enough when open for 7-8 yr old

I think so. I bought it for a 3 year old though.

How big is this umbrella , need for 10 yr old

It might be small for a 10 year old. My kids are 4 and 6, (have both had them for a year) and they are a good size for them. These are adorable and are easy for young kids to open and close independently. I would buy a bigger one for a ten year old though.

Is this size good for a 7 year old to go from school to a car? And easy enough to open/close on their own?

Yes - my 3 year old can open and close it independently and it should be enough for a bigger kid for a short distance
