Stick Insects: Masters of Defense (Insect World)

All of the books in this Lerner Insect World series are been excellent. The books are well made with a hard cover and smooth,crisp, thick paper. They are filled with large, detailed pictures; clear,simple,and engaging scientific text, and a nicely labeled diagram of the inside the insect. I love using them in my classes. I have Stick Insects, Termites, Praying Mantises, Locust, Luna Moth, Mosquito,Hornets, Diving Beetles. At the end is a kid-friendly glossary and a list of related wed sites. They are all excellent, full of interesting facts and pictures without error or excess. Well done and just right

Grade 3-5- This book provides many wonderful pieces of information about animal adaptations. The begining of the book gives the reader basic knowledge of the development of insects. It then discusses specific insects and their individual adapations. The book is full of beautiful photography that supports it's information. It also has a glossary that defines key vocabulary, as well as a list of web sites that would provide you with more detailed information. At the end of the book their is an activity that teaches you how to create a habitat for a stick insect. Great book for teaching and independent learning.
