Very good holder that lasted me for 2 years
This holder worked great for awhile, it was easy to install and held my phone really well. Recently I noticed it wasn't working as well. The side clips that you press to hold the phone in place seemed to be giving out and at times I had to use both of my hands to get it to secure my phone. I also noticed that it kept getting lose in the vent and when I took it out I noticed the clip on the back had melted a bit probably from when I had the heat on during the winter. Unfortunately I am not able to use it anymore and I'm considering looking for a holder that sits on the dashboard instead so this same thing doesn't happen again. I will say it did last for about 2 years which is great so I got a lot of use out of it.

It works, but...
This mount works with the weird vents on my toyota echo (my vents aren't even bladed; they're actually divided into gaping quads). This mount is also able to hold my iphone 12, even though I have one of those finger rings stuck onto the back of the case (the last mount i bought couldn't hold my phone b/c of the ring). The only reason this mount works with my weird vents is because the hook extends long enough to hook onto the very back of the vent (as in it spans the ENTIRE vent). So if your vents are shorter (or shallower) than 1.26 inches deep this mount should be able to work with them, regardless of the shape or blade direction (again: my vents don’t even have blades). The reason I’m giving it 3 stars is because the actual mount part for the phone doesn't always work right. Sometimes it takes some a lot of fussing to make sure my phone is securely mounted. Once you squeeze the sides it clamps down--- whether your phone is securely mounted or not (I often have to jiggle my phone to make sure it's secure and a lot of times IT'S NOT). But if you squeeze the sides them again it often (but not always) automatically UNCLAMPS, which means double checking can often result in unclamping your phone. It's pretty annoying. The mount is solid, heavy plastic too. It's heavy and doesn't seem to angle as well as other mounts I've used. My phone is constantly drooping down and pointed away from me, no matter how many times I try to tighten the mount in the back to angle in a better position to read. It would probably be completely unusable if the rest of the dash wasn't propping it up. I didn’t have this problem with the other mounts I’ve tried (though they had other issues).Since it technically works (I can usually see the screen, just not well), I haven’t returned it, but I’m irritated that I’m stuck with it, and will probably end up shelling out another $10-20 for something that will hopefully work better. I would probably be better off just getting a mount that sticks to the dash right in front of me, since the echo’s dash is as weird as its vents (the instrument display is actually located in the middle of the car, so I'm not sure why I keep getting vent mounts when there's plenty of space on the dash right in front of me to mount the phone).BTW I got this after returning "lisen's" other phone mount which is nearly the same as this one (meaning it should fit most vents) except that that one didn't work with my phone due to the ring on the back. I liked that one better because the mount seemed much lighter and a lot more unobtrusive (rather than being a big heavy piece of plastic, the mount unfolds to cradle your phone and folds back up when not in use). If you don't have a ring or anything on the back of your phone I'd rec getting that one instead of this one.UPDATE: i've been using this in a 2011 toyota prius now and it doesn't fit the vents as perfectly as it did in my echo (it doesn't seem to hook on as securely). Regardless, it DOES fit, and it's never actually come off. I also don't seem to have the drooping problem I did in my echo, but I hate how it blocks the vents (the prius' vents DO have blades and all the blades have to be turned to the side for this mount to be hooked on).

Worked great in our rental car
I purchased this to use in a rental car. Yes it blocked the ac vents a bit but I adjusted. It was easy to install, held tight and gripped my phone well. It is now stored with my travel gear. Great purchase.
