All the love and stars for this beautiful love story
The Girl in the Love Song is absolutely heartbreakingly beautiful. A wonderful coming of age love story that evoked so much emotions in me that I’m certain this book will be on my list of favorites for 2020. The writing, the storytelling, the characters, the pacing, literally every facet of the book is exquisitely done.Miller and Violet's journey enraptured me from the very first page and I lost myself in their tale. The relationship between them was beautiful and I fell in love with both of them. Their story had so much honesty and heart. So many feelings and emotions. Young love can be equal part a beautiful thing and painful, especially what transpires between Miller and Vi. Their friendship may have begun at 13 but that's also when their love for one another blossomed too. Miller and Violet are that couple that you know are meant to be together, but have to endure hell of a lot to get there. I adored them and their devotion to each other and I especially loved watching them grow as the story progressed, changing and evolving as individuals. Their love was apparent with every interaction, every choice, every sacrifice they both made. A true journey of hope, heartbreak, love and joy.Emma Scott has done it again. She's totally stolen my heart with The Girl in the Love Song. She's crafted a world of characters that are intriguing, complex, heartbreaking and real. She never ceases to touch and amaze me with her writing. I am always held spellbound by her rich and beautiful stories. Her books hit me in the feels like no other and this story was no exception. There's something infinitely unique about the way Emma writes and quintessentially her. She pours her heart and soul which makes me fall in love with her writing time and time and time again. She always brings her characters to life and it’s always a joy and a privilege to experience her words. My heart was so full by the end of this book; that the boy and his “girl in the love song” finally found the ending they both so deserved. All the love and all the stars for this book. Thank you Emma!

Amazing feels
The Girl in the Love Song is such an amazing feels read. I'm so in love with Miller. You really get sucked in from the start and get the feels with Miller and Violet. Miller is a amazing and strong. He will make you swoon with how he is with Violet. I simply love Violet. She has this caring nature about her that draws you in. She doesn't even think twice when it comes to helping Miller. The love between Miller and Violet is beautiful. They pull at your heart strings so much. I love the closeness of the "lost boys" (to find out who they are you need to read this). Seriously this is such a heart string pulling read that you will just fall in love with. I really couldn't get enough and so can't wait for more to come.

5+stars!
The Girl in the Love Song by Emma Scott was a beautifully written love story filled with so much emotion and moments that I felt in my heart and soul. There were so many facets to this story from friendship and love to serious issues involving homelessness and medical ones to overcoming obstacles and achieving your dreams.Miller was such a great character as a young boy dealing with serious issues while trying to get through high school. Violet thinking her life was perfect and finding out it is not. Although they were from different social classes, the connection these two had was priceless. Their bond unbreakable. When the two meet, its like fate and destiny all in one. But meeting at thirteen, when you have your whole life ahead of you, can seem impossible for the future. The journey these two take, you will feel in your soul. It is emotional and full of heartbreaking moments and moments of joy and tears.I don't know how Emma does it book after book, but her stories just capture me so deeply. Her writing is amazing and with each word, you just feel the emotions jump off the page. For me this book was fabulous and had it all. I loved all the characters and cannot wait for more of the lost boys stories.

Teen story
If you like to read about teenagers (unrealistic) then this is the book for you. Not for me. I like more mature characters. This should be in the the young adult section. Also, lots of unanswered questions; what happened to her parents? Friends? Etc. not a fan

The perfect coming of age romance. Emma Scott does it again! 5*
Emma Scott does it again!!The Girl in the Love Song is a story that pulls you under into the beautiful depths of its perfect prose and doesn't let up until the very end.Miller and Violet are from two different worlds, yet they are destined soulmates. This is very apparent from the moment they meet at 13 when Miller, alone and desolate stumbles upon a large house on the edge of the forest.Violet is the forgotten rich kid, who spends most of her time in her bedroom whilst her parents are caught up in a volatile failing marriage. Two kids from different tracks in two very different predicaments, both hindered by parents who have failed at love. The perfect friendship blossoms, followed by heartache as the girl who dreams of being a Doctor notices signs that Miller is sick, but its not until he collapses late at night that Violet acts quickly and realises that not only is Miller battling a dangerous illness but she saved his life.Love at 13 is difficult to understand or navigate, so for years they remain best friends, but it starts to tear them apart at 17 as deep-seated secret feelings haven't changed and they both capture the attention of other people.Miller finds solace in his songwriting - every note, every lyric he writes for his Vi, but with a very poor and difficult homelife, new groups of friends throwing themselves into the mix, and a video of Miller playing an original song that goes viral, life takes a turn that has the ability to pull them apart, forever.*The emotion and connection these characters share in this 'coming of age' book is beautiful. Violet and Miller are both kind and intelligent kids who find solace and understanding in one another when they need it most. A lifeline they both cling to, and watching them grow is a wonderful, albeit at times, challenging experience. The real gem here is the Lost Boys... Miller makes new friends in high school who are outcasts, the good, the 'supposedly' bad and the... crazy! Miller, Ronan and Holden forge an unusual bond that is just simply unforgettable and their time together, nestled away in an old fisherman's shack, hiding from what life throws at them was another element to this story that just made it pure magic! If there is one new release you should pick up this week, it is this one. Read it!!!!

I Totally Fell In Love With this Story.
'The Girl in the Love Song,' is a coming of age romance with characters who I totally fell in love with, and a story arc that is both thought provoking and beautiful. A friends-to-lovers style narrative that develops seamlessly with the perfect level of angst and anticipation between the main protagonists. A hero and heroine who showcase believable thought processes that also perfectly support the motivation of the drama and emotion of the story as they grow from young people into self-assured adults. The angst level that was turned up to just the right volume at the right time, it squeezed the centre of my chest right where my heart is and made me a happy reader. Innocence and self-discovery are weaved into the canvas of words along with important relevant issues that compel the reader to think and feel on a deeper level. The author clearly pours her heart, soul, and life experience into her writing which often makes her words more poignant and life affirming. In addition, the supporting cast of characters are strong and caught my attention in a positive way which is a testament to the growth and development of the story as a whole; each of the characters play their own integral part to the overall feel of the romance novel.Be ready to swoon and love and FEEL. I was totally invested in Violet and Millers story; I adored them and felt their growth as individuals and as a couple. I cannot wait to hear more from the other, 'Lost Boys,' and discover how they grow and develop meaningful relationships with other characters from the world of Emma Scott.

Good read...new to me author.
I'm reviewing this coming of age M/F romance first even though I read book 2, When You Come Back to Me and which is River/Holden's story before this one. Both are chock full of angst, so if you're an angst junkie, come get your required fix with either book.As far as this one is concerned, I already knew most of the characters from WYCBtM. I loved both Miller and Violet, and knew that there would be tears from me at Miller's awful life until he met Violet at age 13 and everything started to finally go right for him. I didn't take to his mum Lois at all...I felt she made everything about her when things went wrong, and really didn't give him the love and support he needed with his illness, although I suppose I should be generous and say that she needed support herself as she didn't seem to be able to cope with life in general, and was probably severely depressed and possibly ashamed at her lack of parenting skills. The less said about slimy sponger Chet, the better.Violet's parents needed a good boot up the backside for keeping so many things from their daughter until it was nearly too late. And yes, I had realised that attention grabbing Evelyn was trying to worm her way into Miller's bed...how he hadn't worked that one out was strange BUT he was such a lovely young guy, and had many other things on his mind. Despite the fact that Miller finally made it as a solo singer, he ignored the groupies and other people determined to give him sh*t, and his love for Violet never waned. Violet's childhood ambition to become a doctor drove her on, and her love for Miller stayed strong. 4 stars from me.P.S. LOVE the cover...Miller spot on.

Epic!
The Girl in the Love song is a coming of age, best friends to lovers, slow burn kind of story. I didn’t realise that the whole book would focus on Miller and Violet from early to late teens, but I absolutely loved that it did!Miller and Violet meet unexpectedly one night when they are 13; then begins an epic love story. Do expect a lot of angst, heartbreak and emotional scenes in this book. Emma really takes us on a journey. It’s like she breaks us all into pieces but then slowly glues is back together lol. I mean what poor Miller had to endure just broke my heart. He was a strong lad but boy stubborn at times, but I guess because of what he’s been through it’s understandable. Violet was an amazing character, a breath of fresh air, but again although on the outside it looks like she had the perfect life, behind closed doors, it was anything but.The secondary characters were immense as well. Holden and Ronan, another two lost boys, with a lot of private heartache deep down. I loved that Miller found these two outsiders and they became a wonderful threesome together. Oh and from now on I’m always going to ask myself “What would Jeff Goldblum do?” LolAlso, River 😭 my heart broke for him too. The pressures and stresses that teenagers go through, we see it in this story and he certainly has those.Make sure you have plenty of tissues at ready when you read this story; it’s heart wrenching but equally as beautiful 💗

Beautiful and emotional
A beautiful well written story of love, courage and endurance. It broke your heart in places and lifted your spirit in others. You will absolutely fall in love with Miller and Violet the moment you meet them but more so with Miller who was quite simply a lost soul! With intriguing supporting characters too; I’m glad to see that Holden & River’s story comes next but I can’t wait for Ronan’s story because if it’s going to be along the same lines as this one it will be even more heartbreaking. As for Evelyn you will either love or hate her but she too needs to have her story told.I just wanted more from the epilogue though, I wanted to know of Violet’s relationship with her parents once they divorced. I also wanted to know if Miller kept in contact with his two best friends Ronan and Holden. But they got their happy ending and in the end that was all that mattered. My first book by this author and I highly recommend.
