Works great. Fit well
Just received my Meike MK-DR500 today and when out with my Nikon D500 to give it a try. Works great. Fit well. I wanted the Vello but this one is just as good as my Vello was for my D7200. I have not tried all the functions yet but like the fact that I can use AA batteries. Came wiht a remote control which I have not tried yet. Costs a lot less thatn the Nikon battery grip. Camera sees it and shows you battery level. Happy so far seems to be well constructed.

I'd recommend this to anybody wanting a grip for their D500
For the savings vs the Nikon unit this is well worth it. It has all the functions of the OEM grip plus the radio remote, which works very well. The Meike is not without its faults. Compared to the Nikon (which I have used) the "AF-On" button requires a LOT of force to activate (and I own two of these and they are both the same) This is especially inconvenient for me, since I use it to shoot a lot of sports in portrait orientation and I control my AF with the "AF-On" button. The other issue I have is that if you try to copy images from the XQD card to the SD card (or vice-versa) the camera say "INSUFFICIENT BATTERY", even if the battery is at 100%. Putting a battery in the body and setting the body to use that battery is the only remedy. They didn't quite reverse engineer something right. The Meike comes with a tray for AA batteries, which I don't think the Nikon has. I have not tried to see how many shots you can get with AA batteries.I'd add a star if the AF-On button didn't need so much force.Given the savings, I'd recommend this to anybody wanting a grip for their D500, even with the hard-to-press AF-On button.

Quite happy with this grip
I’ve owned Nikon branded grips, as well as several others, and I can honestly say I’m pleasantly surprised at the fit, finish, and functionality of this grip. Now, im not saying it’s on par with Nikon, but when you consider the difference in cost, I’d say Meike hit a homer run here. I can hardly tell the difference in quality to be honest. A few features such as the shutter release button and command dials feel less fluid and more clicky, but that’s not necessarily a bad things as the sound and feedback are very audible and you know when you’ve engaged them. They don’t cheap or rattle when used. My only real gripe is the Meike name printed on the front of the grip - kind of screws with the overall look of the camera. It would look cool if it were the same small name embossed into the mold. I like Meike’s retro style font.

Does not work as expected with D500
Product works on D500 but with the exception that the D500 will not recognize the battery grip when a new charged battery is added.Requires the grip to be completely removed from camera and reinstalled before camera will recognize the battery grip.Would have rated 4-5 stars had this somewhat aggravating exception not presented itself.

Failed second time using it.
Acted up the first time i used it, failed second time. Acted as if shutter button was stuck. Physically, button was fine. Returned money no questions asked. I ended up buying a genuine Nikon grip, no problems.

Tighten screws just a bit prior to installing to ensure enverything is tight prior to installing.
Well I’m new to to the bisnesss. However, I have never owned a Nikon MB-D17, but the product feels very durable for what I do. They did a great job matching the camera texture. AF button feels a bit out of place, but still works. Product is well built and will satisfy anyone starting a small business. Will I recommend this this item YES!! It pgets the job done and you same $200.00.GET IT!! It’s well worth the price....

Very good alternative to the really expensive Nikon MB-D17 battery pack
Best value for the price. I have not done field testing yet. This rating is based on initial observation and usage (will update after extensive field usage).Pros: Price, includes a remote that works well with D500, I was able to set up and program the extra Fn button, works flawless.Cons: Body colour does not match the D500 body colour, plastic (but at that price didn't expect Mg Alloy).Overall: recommended buy. Even if this pack lasts just a year or two, one can buy 3 such units for the price of the original Nikon.

Perfect!
I am extremely pleased with this grip. All functions work properly and it does not throw an error code as the grip battery dies. It kicks over to the in camera battery every time just as the OEM grip would for 1/4 of the price. It also has the added bonus of the wireless remote that is compatible with continuous shooting.
