Can it be used as a general spray for the room or does it have to be applied directly to clothes or a surface?

I applied it round window frames and windows from the inside. Any moths that passed through were exterminated.

Have people actually been able to experience the kill on contact? When sprayed directly they always seem to be able to fly away again so no sure killo

I have never sprayed a moth directly I usually spray the area to deter the moths from coming here.

No. I left mine on the window sill and the frame where I sprayed it, there was no stain or residue.
