A More Stylish Monster Hunter
Before buying this, I'd never played a God Eater game before and didn't know what to expect.I was happy to find that the series is basically a slicker, more stylish version of Monster Hunter with a coat of anime paint applied. If you've never played MonHun, the gist of it is as follows: you create a character and are dropped into a hub area. From there, you:•Accept missions to go out and fight tons of enemies - both small and large.•Learn how to play better.•Customize and upgrade your gear.•Buy supplies.•Go through story cutscenes between missions.•Repeat until you beat the game.Make no mistake, this isn't story or exploration focused at all. Combat is front-and-center the star of the show.Battles against giant demons is the whole point of the game. The combat is very sluggish and weird at first, but becomes fantastic once you learn how your preferred weapon is supposed to be used. The hammer, for example seems like a stupid choice at first compared to the long sword which does the same damage at a faster pace. Then you realise that you can go into an absurdly fast 20-hit-combo of swings capped off with a jumping smash. Not so stupid now, eh? Every weapon is like this, being okay until you find it's true potential.Oh, all of the weapons feel unique, and are fun to use. Forgot to mention that! The enemies are alright. They really don't have the personality of the monsters from MonHun, but they don't actively make me laugh at their designs. So good enough. The weapon designs can range from awesome to hilariously stupid-looking.Thankfully, the stats don't vary much weapon-to-weapon, so you can always use whatever looks best. The story is about what you can reasonably expect from these types of games, shallow and unsurprising. The english dubs are gratingly bad for the most part in the first game, but range from decent-to-great in the second. It should also be said that the first game has atrocious writing, where the second is much more decent. The character design is excellent and the greatest visual strength of the series. Characters have crisp, highly detailed models and all have unique looks with tons of cool outfits. The player character can also look awesome thanks to a really good customization system and lot's of great fashion options. I would have liked height and breast-size sliders so I could create a more petite character, but it's still better than MonHun's.The soundtrack is great, with weird grungy distorted music similar to that of Puella Magi Madoka Magica, if you know what that is.The two games are mostly similar, but 2 adds a lot more wrinkles to the combat system to both make it more engaging and make you more powerful. You can play them in order, but jumping to the second is also fine as it only makes a few references to the first.Overall, the games have a few rough edges, but they are far from my mind whenever I'm playing because of the sheer fun of the combat and customization. It's a great series with some quirks that are easy to forgive when you're in the swing of things.Highly recommended for action game fans or MonHun fans.Ooh! It also has 4-player online co-op! I almost forgot that part. You can meet up with three other people and go on missions together. Great fun!

Anime + Hunting = Awesome Game
The fact that this is actually two full length games in one is fantastic in and of itself, but it's also helped me scratch my hunting itch I haven't been able to take care of since Monster Hunter 4. First of all, let me start off by saying I haven't even touched the advertised game (the 2nd one) since I never got to play through the first back when it was on the PSP.If you like anime, you'll like this game. If you like hunting style games, you'll like this game. If you dislike either of these things, DON'T GET THIS GAME. What I'm getting at is that there are a lot of cheesy story sequences (a la traditional anime) and, although it is quite a lengthy game, the story is pretty transparent and stereotypical.Saying that, I'm not playing this for the story, and neither should you, because the gameplay is where it's at. The combat mechanics make fights feel fair (for the most part), fast, and exciting; unlike other hunting games I've played (I'm looking at you Monster Hunter), you usually only spend up to 20 minutes TOPS on a mission, at least as far as I've seen. Character customization is pretty detailed as well. You can be like me and make the most stereotypical anime character ever (because why not have red spiky hair and cool sunglasses, right?) or make a character resembling yourself or whoever else you might want. There's also different options for clothing which is a plus.Combat is highly customizable as well. You have a large array of weapons to choose from (you get one ranged and one melee for each mission) including different elements, types of combat, and bullets. Oh lord the bullets. There's a system to customize the energy bullets you shoot from your ranged weapons and it is insane how much goes into it, so much so that it is downright intimidating. In typical hunting fashion, all monsters have weak points, strengths and weaknesses to certain types of attacks and elements, and different special abilities. I will say a lot of monsters are re-skinned throughout the games which is a little disappointing since a lot of the designs are really cool. There's not really much else to say about the game; if you like highly customizable hunting games, this is definitely a good one to pick up, especially since it's two games in one.

The weapons to choose from are ranged enough to have a good option but I still feel as though they needed ...
What can I say? This game is exactly what I wanted it to be! It's a Monster Hunter clone that continued the aspirations from the first. It added to the value of combat from it's predecessor without watering down the whole package. Combat is fluid and doesn't feel bogged down. The story is basic and forgettable, which is why it gets docked a star. The ability to play with friends through every stage is a major boon to it's longevity. You can even experience the hub location and talk to NPCs to further the quests without having your friends leave the game, and they can do so as well (regardless of who is hosting). The syncing online with friends is spot on, with no enemy warping occurring. The weapons to choose from are ranged enough to have a good option but I still feel as though they needed more options. The character creation is pretty lifeless but it has enough options in it to make something personal to one's preferences. The ability to change weapons into guns is still a main staple in combat and is damn cool. You can also "consume" enemies to absorb a limited use power of theirs to use. There is crafting of weapons, clothing, and items that leaves a lot of room for growth through crafting. There are plenty of quests to partake in, even though the enemies are recycled after a while. Overall, the game is long enough and detailed enough to last you about 50 hours without weighing you down. Overall, I would recommend it to anyone who loved Monster Hunter clones or defeating huge monsters with nothing more than your weapon and determination.

Definitely worth it, better if you played the first
If you buy this, definitely play through the first game or at least familiarize yourself with the lore and basic story. The game has an amazing narrative behind it and characters you will completely and absolutely fall in love with.

Exelente edicion a buen precio.
