Yes, I Absolutely Asked For This.
The Art of the Deus Ex Universe is a gorgeous artbook that encompasses Eidos Montreal’s past two Deus Ex games, Deus Ex Human Revolution and Deus Ex Mankind Divided. It starts with the foreword by the creator of Deus Ex Warren Spector who talks about the game he created being a classic and giving his approval of the latest games saying they keep the spirit of the original alive. From there you get five chapters of great art and behind the scenes commentary by the Art Director Jonathan Jacques-Belletete and Martin Dubeau. The five chapters are in order characters, weapons and tech, locations, the breach, and in-game adverts. The last two are short and brief compared to the first three chapters. You see the concepts on how they nailed the uniques aesthetic designs of Human Revolution and Mankind Divided. The “cyber-renaissance” look, as the art director calls it. The art style of these games give off a Cyberpunk dystopian look; that does not seem too far fetched to believe might happen. The Art of the Deus Ex Universe is a fantastic art book you get two games in one art book. You get good looking art concepts and fun making of Deus Ex facts. Such as the colors pink, violet and purple do not exist in the world of Deus Ex giving the visual metaphor of Eliza Cassan being an AI as she the only person who wears purple in the entire two games. There are many fun facts like that all over the art book as well as the beautiful artwork. A must for Deus Ex afficandos!

An Important Book that every major deus ex fan needs
At the back, the plastic covering the book had a large tear and thus the back of the removable book cover was scratched and it is highly noticeable. Even though the book cover can be removed and the rest of the book is in good condition, the packaging and shipping of this item is the big let down. The content in the book so far is quite informative and intriguing. The commentary and look into how the game was designed from its major themes to the visuals of the cyberpunk renaissance time period is beyond compelling and comprehensive. It goes to show how coming up with all these elements of the game, from the clothing and appearance of the characters to the locations seen in the game, shows the challenging yet engaging and exciting development towards creating a game which honors to original and takes it to new heights. A true deus ex fan will need to have this in their collection. In fact, I feel that the deus ex mankind divided collector's edition would be even more complete if this was added with the package.

a nice retrospective of the art of the Deus Ex Universe
Overall, a nice retrospective of the art of the Deus Ex Universe. However, there are areas where it could have further excelled. More in-game, non-character model, non-landscape art would have been great (they give you a few pages of in-game posters and the like, I would have preferred that they covered more of this). There is a smattering of things that were designed but not used, I would have loved to see that explored as it's own section in the book. We know that they had planned, at one time, to have things take place in a few more locales in Human Revolution, it would have been great to see some of the early concept art for those sections.Neither of the mobile Deus Ex games were touched upon at all in the book. Granted there isn't much material that could be covered with them, but nonetheless, a page or two about them would have been nice.My biggest complaint? The book is just barely too tall to fit on my bookshelf.

Lovely
Packaging was fine. BooK was near perfect condition. As for the book, it’s absolutely beautiful. It doesn’t include all of the concept art I’ve been able to find online but it does have a bunch and I love having it in this physically accessible place. It’s bigger than I thought it would be in terms of height and width and thicker than I thought it would be. Very happy. The art for this video game series is absolutely stunning.

Good, but not worth Full Price
I love the art of these games, but this book is over-priced for how much and little it has. I'm glad I only paid the Amazon Prime price and not the full price. I have an art book for Dragon Age: Inquisition that has four or five times as much art and information as this Deus Ex art book does. The quality of the book is great and I love the graphics around the art and information. This book's art is split between the most recent two games "Manking Divided" and "Human Revolutions", there could have added tons more art for what they're asking for it. Get it on a discount as close to 50% if you can.

Excellent Splicing Of Sci Fi And Oppressive Dystopian Future
The Art Of The Deus Ex Universe is the ultimate gallery of Art from Deus Ex: Human Revolution and the newly released Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Over 192 Pages It contains over 300 images, featuring Concept Art, Sketches, Evolutions, Designs and more. With Fully-Fledged Commentary from Eidos Montreals World Renowned Art Design Team. This extraordinary collection of groundbreaking Art helps to flesh out the how Deus Ex's Dystopian Future from Deus Ex: Human Revolution and onwards was created and conceived. One of the main reasons anyone who has played and enjoyed Deus Ex I'm sure was how incredible the environments, character models and décor are, everything is so exceptionally sumptuous to look at, it truly is a visual feast for the eyes. This wonderful Art book covers the two most recent entries into the series exploring practically every facet the Developers and Design team looked at before finalising what would appear in the Main Game/Final Product. I don't remember there being any 3D Renderings of Characters or Vehicles for people who like that, I personally didn't mind because all of the concept art in this book is seriously so stylish and brilliant, it covers all of the Protagonists and Antagonists of the Deus Ex Universe including a few of the early iterations of Jenson's appearance and they definitely chose the best, I wander if they dropped the Augmented Legs due to the likeness to a certain South African?Final Evaluation of this is yet another wonderful companion/Artbook by Titan, a premium feeling product at a reasonable price, if your a fan of the series this is a no brainer.

Great art book, but came dammaged
Great artbook, with amazing concept art and some insight into the creative process of the people who have worked on the game. However, the corner of the book was dammaged when it arrived. The packaging it was in seemed fine, but I would advise people to order from a different seller than Amazon, one that perhaps uses pore packing material.

Gorgeous art with this Cyber Renaissance Style
It was interesting reading how their approach was for style that was less cyberpunk and moreCyber-Renaissance as they call it. Gorgeous work but needed way more pages of art or art pieces

and this book beautifully illustrates the art as seen in game as well ...
Superb. The art style of the new Deus Ex games is possibly the most distinctive feature, and this book beautifully illustrates the art as seen in game as well as the processes that lead to that style. If it's one thing the new games really get spot on, it's the visual distinctiveness of the world they create, and this book really showcases that.

Better than expected
This includes lovely concept art from Human Revolution and Mankind Divided. For me, those are games with incredibly unique design and I even had many discussions with architects about the fascinating world they have created. This book, whilst I wish it had more concept art for some sections, very much is something people who like the design of the world will appreciate.
