ECP Equine Comfort Products Correction Dressage Saddle Pad with Memory Foam Pockets

Sadly returned. And a potential buyer beware regarding spine health
Low price is sadly evident in it's design problems. Submitted photos to show why I returned this pad.1. It's for smaller saddles. Note in photos my 17" dressage saddle and 17" "bareback pad". My 18" Orthoflex (treeless) endurance saddle would be way too big for this pad.2. Smaller as compared to a standard Roma dressage pad.3. Shims are NOT memory. I let the widest foam shim rest overnight outside of the pocket and it remained pressed into the grid pattern.4. Shim seams may make your horse sore if you spend time in the saddle. It's a poor design overall.

Well made, excellent product
Needed a pad for my treeless saddle, which is Spanish style saddle, more square than rounded, and didn't want to spend $200+ for the pad designed to go with it. I ordered the green, which is a nice hunter green. This was a great choice, though a bit longer than my saddle, I wanted a pad that was thinner but had the foam pockets so I could make adjustments as needed. It is well made - thick material I think will hold up to the weekend riding we do. Not worried about the foam inserts, for now they are fine, not high quality/density, but who cares, foam inserts are inexpensive and easy to get and can be cut to fit the pocket.I also purchased the standard saddle shape pad for another saddle I have, and we're very happy with that one too. Reasonable price compare to what they charge for the treeless saddle pads.

NOT memory foam shims!
The construction of the pad is nice, but the reason I bought this was for the memory foam shims, which it DOES NOT have. They are packing foam, like the kind of material you find in the box when you buy tall boots. In fact, just trying to pull one out, it ripped! They have cut these to the shape of the shim insert pockets on the pad and put three in there to make them seem thicker than they are. if you are buying this for the quality of the shims, look elsewhere.

It's not memory foam, it's packing foam
Very disappointed in the quality of this pad for what I paid. The "memory foam" isn't memory foam as you can see from the photo. It's 3 sheets of packing foam. I bought this to add some extra cushion to my still developing OTTB and it likely not gonna cut it. Save your money and buy a fleeceworks or actual halfback pad not from EPC.

Memory Foam Pad Missing
One of the four memory foam pads was missing when it arrived. Company referred me back to Amazon. Could not return because by the time I noticed it was missing I had already tried it on my horse. Have to find some memory foam pads somewhere, but I really wish I hadn’t wasted my money. The fit of the pad is strange, but would probably work for a super high withered horse. The pad seems well made and the baby blue color is pretty.

making it work...
first, this is a beautifully made object, available in a delightful array of colors. Its defects are fixable, at virtually no cost. First, as other reviewers have said, you will need to replace the "shims". I just cut pieces of old saddle pads. Get some real memory foam if you prefer. Second, and I think important, especially if you are raising the cantle, you may want to cut away the front pockets, as they are made of the quilted material, and act as shims themselves. The people who make prepackaged daily supplements carry this pad and will embroider it.

The shims make this pad!
This pad is perfect for horses that are still changing. The shims offer a lot of adjustability. My horse has high withers, and she's also a little sunken around her withers. The shims in the front are perfect for her. It's a little expensive because I don't think the materials are all that expensive on their own. It is worth it, though. I have 5 of them. :-)

A lifesaver while I waited for a custom fit saddle. Shims are a bit too soft.
I needed a correction pad that didn't cost and leg and a hoof while my horse's saddle was being made to fit. This was very helpful as I didn't need multiple pads and bulk and it stays in place perfectly. The shims are a foam material, and compressed too much, so I made a few out of a thicker memory foam to add. Otherwise it's a great substitute for pricey correction half pads.
