Great Device, but had 1 QC issue that could have resolved itself over time
Edit After Buying unit 2: The first one gives up constantly and just shuts off. No idea, it doesn't seem to follow reason. I kept thinking I fixed it, then would try it on a different device like my TV and it would shut off again. It turns right back on, but just won't stay on. I even used a fully isolated power supply with a clean 5 volts on it, and it just throws a fit.The 2nd one has been running for 26 hours straight now without any skip in beat..... That tells me the first one is some kind of a Quality Control Failure.... I need two devices, so I am going to try and contact the seller on this one. Review will increase or decrease based on that interaction....The Good, The Bad, the Ugly(whats not told to you, but a good thing this time!)-----The Good-----A BLUETOOTH TRANSMITTER THAT EXISTS! It is so hard to find a simple cheap bluetooth transmitter, no not a thing that lets you play audio from your iPhone to Speakers, but from a Jack to ANOTHER seperate set of bluetooth speakers or headphones!THIS ALSO DOES BOTH of those things!Pretty nice design and came with scratch protection on the top and bottom. Not expected for 15 dollars. This is very similar to another product but that other product is 10 dollars more. (Don't want them to increase the price so I am not saying which one)Comes with all cables you need!Worth the 15 bucks-----The Bad----- (Personal problem with 1 device only, don't take to heart)Ok, so I took it out of the box and figured out the cryptic transmitter instructions and got it setup and working. About 5 minutes later my Bose QC35s lost connection to it, it did not disconnect it just died. Plugging it in for an hour did nothing. It didn't turn on while plugged in, it didn't turn off with every off after an hour at a charger, and no red light was on when it was supposed to be charging.Well, this would be game over for a normal person, but I am an Electronics and Computer Engineer, so I whipped out my multimeter and checked the battery voltage. It was 3.9 which is in range of a lithium battery life (3.667-4.21), so it had about 1/2 charge left before it disabled itself due to low voltage. I checked the USB and was getting 5 volts, so that was good too. Still nothing. Held the button for a whole minute with all 3 combinations of jacks and everything you can think of.Here is what fixed it. I suspected an overload of some kind, so I desoldered the black terminal of the battery very carefully, and left it off for about 30 seconds. I soldered it back very carefully (if your not careful you could short it and accidentally The Samsung.....), and viola! It worked immediately and has been working for about 30 minutes. So it was NOT a dead battery. There was no way to get it out of whatever happened, so I did this knowing I was risking getting a refund. It worked and I don't need one. Also it now lights the red LED when charging, so something was wrong. Here is my guess.....Loose Black Terminal, cold solder joint, or high resistance (Just as possible as #3)PTC/NTC overload somehow (Battery voltage was still going to circuit, so this is unlikely)Some kind of SCR or crowbar was tripped and would not work till all power removed. (Most likely)Nothing else bad, worth it.-----The UGLY: Some Features described TERRIBLY, but are amazing are....-----You can Pair 2 Devices at the same time playing the SAME audio in Transmit mode! (This was called "double connection or something like that in the description)-Enter Transmitter Mode (Plug in 3.5mm Cable, then turn on. Should be ready now. Turn on Pair mode on your headphones or reciever and watch it work.....)-Push the only button once very quickly and it will start the process again. Do the same thing for the reciever, put it in pair mode and thats it, it should just sync. There is no Magical process on either device-ON with 3.5mm in Transmitt-Put Headphones in Pair Mode-Connects automagically without help-Push the only button one more time to duplicate the audio streamSo this makes it possible to have music playing in two places via Bluetooth for 15 bucks!(Another way to put it into transmitter mode is very strange, you put the 3.5mm cable in both slots and power on. Yes you put both ends of the 3.5mm cable from one side port to the other side port. You remove the receiver side after your Bluetooth device is paired. Very strange. I recommend the first one over this.....)-----Overall-----Would be 5 stars if that QC issue didn't occur. Buying another because of that dual stream feature! That is saving me a ton of money of making a multiroom sound system!
