Great for controlling tempo and detecting swing flaws
I got interested in this club through Erika Larkin’s endorsement. After over 60 years of reading about golf instruction, I found her book and her videos to be the most helpful things I ever saw.I have used this for several months now. The best thing about this weighted, flexible training club is simple: you can actually hit balls with it and see results. This is why I prefer it to the orange whip and other similar products. If you can’t see what is really happening with ball flight, you could very well be instilling bad habits. I think some of the product claims were unrealistic and a bit of a reach for me. Ten or twelve swings with it won’t change anything. I always use this club to begin my practice sessions. I hit balls with it until the contact and flight are where I want them, then I proceed to my regular clubs. If something in my swing gets off, I will return to this club until I am back on track. I also use it as my first club when I warm up for a round, starting with short swings and working up to a full swing with it before I proceed to my clubs. The club comes with some drills you can do that I looked at. They may be helpful, I don’t know, I just picked it up and started swinging it. That is really all you need to do. It is now part of my regular routines. I presume it is durable, I have hit maybe 500-600 full shots with it and it hasn’t broken.I really like it.

Great training aid!
This club gives great feedback on swing tempo, swing plane, open face/closed face contact and of course lag. I’m an experience golfer but could never dial in and perfect my swing. After one day of using lag shot at home and at the range it gave me some great feel for what a good swing with contact should feel like and I was able to translate it over to the actual club. The free training sessions that come with it are very good as well. I highly recommend this product if you are a beginner or have plateaued in your golf game and are looking for a way to shave off some more strokes and increase your distance. I have not yet been able to translate it over to the driver so I may consider purchasing the lag shot driver in the future.

Good Training Aid When Practicing One's Golf Swing
I have a tendency to release the clubhead earlier than I should when swinging a golf club even though I have been about a 5 handicap for many years. All I can say is that this club works. It has a very limber shaft and, as such, it requires one to slow one's swing a little so that the clubhead is released properly. Since the shaft is a little thicker than normal, the grip feels like it would be about 1/16 inch thicker than normal. Generally, I swing this club back and forth about 10 times before attempting to hit a shot. Then, the swing is grooved and I can make a shot with a slower swing. The ball will obviously not go as far with this 7-iron since the swing is slowed down. However, that is not what I am intending to do. When I switch to my 7-iron, I will begin to speed the swing to my normal speed. After having used this for several weeks, I can notice a difference in the way my club releases through impact and see the results in my ball flight. I would order this club again.

Immediate results
Let me say, I have bought and used many golf training aids over the years. The lag shot 7 iron is likely the best of the bunch. After some practice shots (small swings working up to bigger swings) for about 30 minutes I was amazed at the immediate results. Noticeable improvements in lag, timing, tempo, shallowing the club, balance and follow through. The instant feedback promotes turning with the body, clearing the hips and following with your hands instead of chasing, casting or throwing the club at the ball.I am currently a 2 index but was looking for something to create more consistent contact and a more effortless (ie Fred Couples) swing. This is it! It’s pricey at $120 but consider the cost of a golf lesson. This can be a trainer on demand and allow you to actually feel the correct swing positions.I highly recommend the lag shot.

Awesome swing trainer
This has helped my golf swing tempo better than any other training aid I have tried.

I should have known better ...
I have been playing for over 55 years and have a reasonable understanding of the physics of golf, so I should have been suspicious of a one-size-fits-all type of training device that uses an overweight head on an overly flexible shaft, but I haven't been playing as much in recent years and I hoped that something like this would help me maintain a more consistent rhythm. I reviewed as much of the instructional information as I could find online prior to using the club at the range several times, but it only resulted in nasty hooks with my regular clubs, so I have dropped it from my practice routine. I can easily imagine that it could work for folks with a different physiology, swing mechanics, etc., but it doesn't work for me.Having said that, the club seems to be well made, and the heavy head makes it a good alternative to using two irons during my pre-round warm-up, so it is currently in my bag as a 14th club until I find a tweener hybrid I like.

This works
Solid...hit quite a few range balls with this. If you are like me and have good form but just don't have the time to practice during the week, this thing will help you get your tempo and rythm back ...if your mechanics are good, this will absolutely keep you from "tugging" the club from the too and keep your tempo slow and sweet.

Great training aid, with a caveat.
I have a training aid called the Whippy TempoMaster from the 1990's that was essentially the same concept as this training aid, but the overall design of the Lag Shot is significantly better in design and execution. The only beef I have with this training aid is that the default lie angle is too flat. My turf interaction is completely on the toe end of the sole resulting in pretty hard fades regardless of how good my timing is. Just an FYI I'm a 5 handicap with a driver swing speed of 115mph.
