The Dark and the Wicked (SHUDDER) [Blu-ray] [2020]

Really enjoyed this movie, probably one of the bleakest, grim and genuinely evil movies I've watched, even grimmer than Hereditary! Those expecting a fast paced actioner will probably be disappointed, but if you like an oppressive mood and a creeping sense of dread, this will defo float your boat! Though the story is pretty linear, it has quite a few genuinely terrifying moments, and a few jump scares, but not done in a cheesy way at all. Great acting in this also, my only slight gripe was that it ended suddenly and I'd have like to have had a bit more explained, but tbh I think that was the point... Sometimes evil happens and there is no simple explanation!

A pretty good watch that's full of tension lots of tension.The way this movie was edited was genius the whole imagery and sound of the movie is what makes it.Some jump scares too for good measure and of course some creepiness.Definitely recommend.

This is a slow burn horror movie that drops several clues along the way that when finally put together reveals a terrific supernatural horror. There are a few jump scares here and there. Overall I really enjoyed this movie.

Some sinister and mysterious shenanigans torment a rural farmstead where a pair of siblings have returned to the family home to care for their ailing parents where a demonic entity has started to have a psychological impact on the family.A dark, moody and atmospheric slowly-paced bit of indie horror that maintains an eerie vibe from start to finish. Not a single smile or joke or light-hearted moment is to be had from the small cast of characters, they are suitably bleak and depressing looking as the tone of the film is. It's well enough acted with fairly convincing gloomy performances from the cast. The film unravel's very leisurely with some moderately scary moments which do become a bit too predictable and tedious after awhile which follow the same formula of imaginary scares, tricks of the mind and dream sequences. But the sense of fear and dread is maintained throughout. There are some occasional grisly moments that'll grab the attention of the gorehound's who find their minds wandering due to the lack of the typical horror film thrills. Frustratingly there is a lack of story here nor any hints of an explanation behind the evil occurrences featured in the film. Couple that with an unsatisfying ending that fizzles out rather abruptly which made for quite an unrewarding experience.At the end of it all I found it an effectively made film visually and ambiently with some chilling moments, but the lack of story along with the slow-burn nature and lackluster ending made it a fairly unremarkable and forgettable experience.

Excellent horror movie, really gave me the shivers, highly recommend

This film had so much build up and was really creepy and left me wanting to know more. However the ending was a let down and left it really open. I would watch this again though
