Waited way to long!
I have known about Grados for a long time but never tried them. I can say they live up to the hype. They are detail and soundstage monsters. Your music will sound different on these in a very good way. There is a lot of energy in the treble which works super well with certain type of music. Modern pop/rock music with lots of treble will find a bit overpowered and too detailed. Not the fault of Grado but how modern music is mixed and engineered. For other genre they are incredible. With the amount of detail and soundstage you don't need extra bass. The bass is there just fine. However if you really want it they do respond a lot to eq.I prefer HD6xx for listening to pop and some rock. They still have good soundstage but have less treble. However the soundstage on Grados are a level above anything else. The only thing I don't like is the cable. You can tow a car with it. They definitely picked it for the conductive properties and not for the comfort application. They saved the money in a lot of areas and put it all into the sound and build which is what matters most. The only real negative reviews here are subjective. One the ear phones are usually not comfortable for anybody but Grado designed a good headband. You can shape it to your needs and it still remains springy. Also a review of someone comparing it to wireless headphones made for tv listening. Ridiculous.

Better than the SR80X in every way. The best headphone I've heard under $500.
I've already written an extensive review of the SR80X and how much better it is than the E Series. The SR80X is no doubt a game changer for the price and will satisfy anyone who owns it. I believe what Grado has made with their X Series of drivers will become the default headphone purchase for the price. The SR80X is ridiculously good. But I was curious to see if the 125X would be any improvement. And within one minute of head to head listening, I could EASILY pick out the superiority of the 125X. The 125X is better than the 80X in every way. The highs are more round and detailed, with better resolution. The mids and lows have a noticeable layer of girth and growl. It's like someone took some butter and just slathered it on the SR80X. Songs that bordered on uncomfortably bright on the 80X sounded better and also less harsh on the 125X. There was an increase in detail but also an increase in softness. It really took no time at all to stick with the 125X.I can only imagine how good the new 225 and 325 are with these new X drivers. The entire spectrum sounds better than the E Series. Not nearly as bright and an enhanced low end. If the last Grado you heard was an old model, you owe yourself to try the new model. Pick the highest price you can afford and pull the trigger. You won't be disappointed. I think the SR125X handily beats the Sennheiser 6XX and Hifiman 4XX/400 series/Deva (while also being significantly easier to drive, though Grados notoriously scale with good amps). It has all the immediacy and impact of a Grado, but the low end has been given a boost and the sharpness of Grados past has been tamed. These really are incredible.

My new almost daily driver!
This is an AMAZING pair of headphones... in the right environment. And that's the main caveat. To say that the audio from these headphones leaks is an understatement. Anyone near you will hear EVERYTHING that you are listening to. And also all noise will leak through as well. So these are not for use out and about. These are for use at home, in a quiet room. That being said. When you're in the right listening environment, these headphones SING! They really shine with music that is grand and wide (think things like Jazz, Classical, Soundtrack, anything with a choir, etc). Now if you're a bass head, you might as well stop and look somewhere else. But if you like accurate and clean sounding bass, you can't go wrong with these. They have enough bass to enjoy pop, rock, though maybe a bit lacking for things like edm. Though that could be corrected with an external DAC/AMP like a Fiio Q3 or something similar. The soundstage is super wide! I really feel like I'm being surrounded by sound, even when compared to something like a AKG Q701 these feel so much more wide. Which with a super wide soundstage, there's something else these are great for: ASMR!I've never understood asmr videos, but after trying one video with these headphones, I finally understand. I can actually feel like I'm there listening to someone. The same goes for other 3D audio experiences. I've never been a huge fan of PS5's 3D tempest audio engine, but now I can actually hear things around me with these headphones. This wide soundstage can be a double edged sword however. Music with really bad mixing will sound bad. There's no way around it. If the music is poorly mixed and mastered, you WILL HEAR IT, and it will sound BAD. An unfortunate side effect of having a headphone that really reveal all details in your audio. Here's what I dislike. It's a very thick and unwieldy cable. Also it seems as though they attached the cable with the headphones laying flat. So when you twist the cups to sit on your ears, the cable twists and creates an annoying twist at the junction where the cable splits for left and right ear. Also I've found that if you have a beard, hairs can get caught in the braided sleeve of the cable, which can cause an uncomfortable pull when you move the cable the wrong way. Both of these things are very annoying , especially using the headphones when laying down. For both of these things I'm taking off a star for comfort.Overall I would recommend these headphones if you want a daily driver to use at home. If you need something when you're out and about, I would look somewhere else.Excellent for: Music, Video games, ASMRBad for: Traveling, outdoor use, loud environments, anywhere that's not at home, music that is mixed bad

I'm sold. A new customer for life
I have many headphones. Dt 700 pro x, DT 770 pro, DT 990 pro, K7XX, HE 400se, SHP9600, tygr 300r, and several IEMs. I have never heard anything like these grados. The sound signature is so unique and detailed that I find myself gaming and music listening through them now and I keep doing it and I can't stop. I love them. I love you Grado.

Hands down the best sounding headphones for the price.
These headphones sound amazing, super transparent with a nice balanced EQ spread- and they look great. I wear glasses and my other headphones cause a lot of discomfort- with the SR125X this is not an issue. The cord is an extremely heavy gauge and of supreme quality adding to the quality of these awesome phones. Get them, you won’t be disappointed.

Klingt sehr viel teurer

Outstanding quality
Great sound?, very comfortable and very well made. They are worth the extra few £s over the 80s.
