Great product for mystery snails
I love this! it's a lot easier and less messy than attempting to add cuttle bone....or coral. coral raises your pH which i did not want. i prefer keeping my pH around 7.4-7.6 without using buffering agents. at first i was really concerned about how much to add. i'm adding this to 5 gallon Fluval Spec V. i took the directions on the bottle (designed for larger volume tank) and divided those numbers to get 1.25ml as an initial dose per 5 gallons...this raised my gH from about 4-5 to about 10-11. now i just measure my gH after my weekly water change and adjust how much i add....sometimes it's 10 drops which is .5ml or sometimes it 1ml, 20 drops...i was really concerned about how much to add at first. and i was scared i'd overdose it. turns out overdosing calcium isn't too much of a concern....if you're water column can not absorb more calcium it will start to 'scale up' your tank walls, filters....i've been using this a month and haven't run into that. but i monitor my parameters daily. and i do not guess dose this without a gH reference.my mystery snail is growing and continues to grow. unfortunately, his shell wasn't in too great of shape when i got him a few months ago. i consider him a rescue. i suspect he was kept in low pH water and didn't have access to sufficient calcium. he has grown a very large section of 'new shell' since i've gotten him. and it looks great!! so that tells me my decision to buy this for my Freshwater tank....was a very smart decision.it's very thick and will drop straight to the bottom of your tank when you add it. i pour it into the filter pump section, so it'll all get dispersed evenly. or i will just pour it over the bubbler.you do need to be aware of your gH before and after you've added this calcium. just pick up the gH kit from API right along with this...or even better, they have one specifically for calcium. some fish don't like hard water....this will harden your water. the gH of your water is made up of calcium and magnesium. it is possible your water has sufficient calcium in it without even adding this. you will not know this unless you test.. i choose to add this product because of how my snails shell was when i bought him.also, i have not noticed any change in my pH due to calcium....test your water! follow the directions on the bottle calculated for your tank's volume....and then adjust that amount when you're doing water changes, when your gH is lowering....you will be fine.also, the bottle is huge....it'll last me about a year if i am adding this to my 5 gallon tank at whatever dosage i choose for well over a year.

Happy snails!
I've been using this once a week as an additive in my fresh water aquarium as a calcium supplement for my mystery snails. I began feeding them algae tablets and giving them the calcium a few months ago. Since then I have not had any issues with brittle shells, nor have I had any casualties. They have actually increased in activity and been breeding more frequently too. Very very happy thus far with this calcium additive!

Helpful for snails
Used this to help keep my snails' shells from flaking apart in the tank. I used less than what it said since it was going into a fresh water tank. Did not bother my fish, but you have to be careful because it will make your water very hard.
