Spy Pups: Prison Break

Mr Big's return
In the first Spy Dog tale, Lara tackled an evil criminal called Mr Big and put him behind bars. In this book, Mr Big anonymously sends Lara a birthday present of a packet of her favourite biscuits, but laced with a slow-acting poison to which only he has the antidote. After Lara scoffs her present and falls gravely ill, Mr Big makes the Cook family and Professor Cortex an offer they can't refuse: either they break him out of his maximum prison and receive the antidote, or Lara dies ...The rest of the book sees the Spy Pups, the Cook children and Professor Cortex have to come up with and then carry out a complicated plan to break into the prison before breaking Mr Big out. Yet even when things go to plan, Mr Big doesn't exactly honour his side of the bargain, and the plot twists and turns before reaching a satisfying conclusion. As with all the Spy Pup and Spy Dog books, my eight-year-old found this very enjoyable and exciting. It's well-written and it has a fast pace. The good guys are good, and Mr Big is very bad indeed. It's another winner from the Spy Pups series.

Little-boy heaven
My 6 year old has most of Andrew Cope's Spy Dog books and absolutely loves the stories. This book certainly didn't fail to entertain, just like the others. Highly recommended.
