Very good adapter
Works great and has top comparibility! According to the descrption it supports video till 60hz, so probably won't work for 100 hz monitors for usb2hdmi, but the current one is fine.

USB Heaven !
The MINIX NEO C, USB-C Multiport Adapter is a compact and cute little multi-talented adaptor for your late 2012 or late 2016 MacBook Pro.It’s the perfect device to get you out of those tricky situations where you need multiple connections, but don’t want to carry around tons of wires and dongles. It is a sleek, design, measuring 9cm x 5.5cm by 1.5cm - just about the same size as a deck of cards, certainly small and thin enough to be discreetly tucked away. But of course the new MacBooks are incredibly thin and sleek, and it would be too much to ask for this device to sit flush when your MacBook’s lid is closed. It’s construction offers a reassuringly strong metallic build, whilst remaining aluminium light. A reassuringly good thing in today’s world full of cheap patent plasticy adapters. To match the newer range of MacBooks, it comes in a lovely Space Grey, Silver or Gold. But for a sleek professional look, I prefer the Space Grey. The colour practically matches my Late 2016 touchbar MacBook Pro. It has little rubber feet which is a welcome addition - providing a firm grip on smooth or slippery glass surfaces. It comes with 2 x standard USB 3.0 ports which is it’s bread and butter really - you’ll want to connect most of your legacy gadgets to this, and being USB 3.0, it's blisteringly fast. It also comes with TF and SD card readers which will be useful to Photographers who miss the SD card slot on earlier Macbooks. (TF Reader is the format that Mobile Phone Micro SIM cards use).Other ports include an additional USB-C port (great if you have a one-port USB-C MacBook and you want to use the Minix while charging at the same time). My MacBook Pro has four usb-C ports so this isn’t a deal breaker for me.Finally it has a welcome HDMI and Gigabit Ethernet port. This WAS a deal-breaker for me as it allows me to use this professionally - 4K HDMI (or 1080p VGA) for screen presentations and lectures, and Gigabit LAN/Ethernet connection.A few home users might find the Ethernet port not so useful, but I think this is a well-thought out addition - since I regularly bring my laptop to work, I can stick the network cable in and I’m all connected. Similarly if I’m travelling in hotel rooms that have internet access over the Ethernet port. Really useful (Remember, you must install Minix's Ethernet drivers on your laptop first). The HDMI outputs 4K 3840x2160 at 30Hz which is fine. It also outputs Digital Audio as is standard with HDMI, so connecting HDMI and playing movies from your laptop and watching it on your big screen telly with audio is really nice. The Minix adapter provides a clear, fast refresh rate and you don’t notice any visual artefacts (I’ve used it on purpose-built monitors and normal TVs). Although I imagine screen refresh rate might be slower for advance 120Hz Xbox gaming.Although near-perfect, some might argue this would have been 100% 5-star perfect if it had one or two Firewire or Thunderbolt 2 > Thunderbolt 3 ports. But in reality, a Thunderbolt 2/ Thunderbolt 3 convertor is a highly technical and expensive attribute, which is why some Thunderbolt adaptors cost upwards of £99, £109.00. Having a Thunderbolt port on this baby would have meant a more technical design. It would need to be powered (it’s only output 5.2v) and therefore need transformers, generate more heat, and a breakout box or plug - which would ruin the aesthetic, portability and lightness. In Use - At first when I plugged it in, nothing worked. Nada! My Sandisk USB drive didn’t show up, HDMI didn’t show on the telly, nothing. I thought it was dead and was about to take it back. Then I explored some more, what did I realise? You have to really push the cable firmly into your Mac USB-C port, giving a reassuring and satisfying ‘CLUNK’ - then connectivity is instant. It is reassuring that it really firmly and snugly connects (you don’t want lose connection ports when transferring terabytes of storage data), however those used to MagSafe power cables may miss the ability to easily take it out (you need two hands to plug it in and out firmly - one to hold the Mac, the other to plug it in) - but that’s more a design attribute of the USB-C protocol rather than the Minix. So all in all, it is a well-thought out solution. Since purchasing my MacBook Pro, I’ve looked at a LOT of devices, gadgets, dongles and adaptors on the market, but this by far fits all my needs perfectly. It’s light, portable, and looks beautiful. I’m pleased to say The MINIX NEO C, USB-C Multiport Adapter is fast becoming a must-have device.

Only USB-C adapter you need for your Macbook Pro
I've tried the HooToo HT-UC002 model previously and it does not provide enough power to the external harddrive for use. I've then refunded it and went with Minix NEO C 2nd generation. I've asked Minix what's the difference between the 1st Gen and 2nd Gen. I was told the 2nd gen have the latest firmware which provided more stability and the USB-C connector was improved. It's bigger compared to the previous Generation. As I've read the review of the 1st Generation Minix Neo C, some users claim the USB-C connector is flimsy and sometimes break. I think the 2nd Gen have fixed that. For my actual usage, I used it on my new Macbook Pro 13" with Touch Bar. I'm glad to say that it does provide enough power to the USB Ports to power up my external HDDs for use, so far all USB accessories worked properly. I've installed the network driver as soon as I placed the order, so when I got the Minix Neo C 2nd Gen, it worked with no issue the first time I plugged it in. Network ports work fine. I've tried the HDMI port and during my use, it seem to work, but I didn't use it for too long or use it often. But during my test of the HDMI port to a 1080p monitor, I had no issue.I've yet to try the microSD or SD card slots. When using external HDD, sometimes the unit does get hot, like a warm cup of coffee, but not hot to the touch. I believe this is for dissipation of the heat. The unit is made of aluminum, which does not feel cheap like plastic. It does add a bit more weight over plastic, but it's not much heavier. Instead it feels sturdier.I've looked at articles of the hyperdrive being funded on kickstarter which boast thunderbolt 3 speed. However, I don't see a reason to go thunderbolt 3 yet as there aren't enough accessories out there for it. Plus if you use the thunderbolt 3 port for accessories, you'll need to plug in the charging cable into another port on your Mac, which is the same as me having the Minix Neo C and plugging a thunderbolt 3 device directly into my Mac. Get this and you don't have to wait and it should serve all your needs in the future.Note: I've bought this at full price with no discount or whatsoever.

SD card reader drops connection
Until recently, I've used an alternative SD card reader, mostly because the SD slot on this seemed awfully snug and I felt like I really had to push the card in, which seemed as though it might damage the chips on the SD card. Then my trusty card reader, which has served me well for 8+ years, stopped working one day. This made me return to the Minix for my SD card reading needs. Wincing as I did so, I pushed the card in. No harm came to the card, so I decided to use Minix as my primary card reader. That was a week ago, and I'm afraid to say I'm now having to purchase a new card reader after all. For some reason, the SD slot kept dropping connection. In fact, while trying to transfer 700 photographs from my card to my hard drive, the SD slot lost connection nine times. My hard drive, also plugged in to the Minix, didn't drop connection once, so I can isolate the connection issue to the SD slot.In summary, 5 stars for its other functions, but 0 stars for its SD abilities.

Great product, off to a bad start
01/08/17 UPDATE:3 stars from 4 stars, as HDMI has stopped working properly and periodically disconnects from my monitor. Even the slightest nudge will disrupt the connect and disconnects my monitor. I will be getting in contact with the seller soon and will update this.Had to purchase a second one of these as the first arrived defective. Overheated aggressively when all of a sudden the HDMI port completely stopped working. Amazon of course accepted the return without an issue however and I got a full refund. Would have been easier if the seller provided a replacement service but there's none of that here. The customer service also seems to not be that great unfortunately. Now onto the actual working device - it's honestly brilliant. Very well built and sturdy, with all ports working just as they should with reliability, no drop outs during a 4 hour test. The hub also doesn't get hot to the point where you can't touch it, but stays toasty when you've got all the ports occupied, especially the ethernet port! There's a lot more testing to do before I can give this product a 5 star, as after the first incident and looking at some of the other reviews on this product, I'm a little concerned about the longevity of this device. I will definitely update this review within a months time and let you know how it holds up!
