This book captures me from the very beginning. Twists and turns and I didn’t guess correctly until almost the last page.

What Amber goes through will break your heart as she tries to reconnect with her birth Mom
What Amber goes through will break your heart as she tries to reconnect with her birth Mom after her adopted Mom's passing. Her birth Mom is a politician-need I say more--and is hiding a deep dark secret that will ruin her career. The twists are many and one or two at the end will make you gasp!! Definitely have tissues nearby while reading this one.

A very unusual story
I found this to be an absorbing story which I could not tear myself away from. A senator who gave birth to twins just one month after her Japanese husband died from early-onset Altzheimer's disease unforgivably and irrationally abandoned one twin in a derelict house to die, because she tested to be carrying the same genetic disease. She threw herself into politics but became one of the most hated politicians in America because she refused to pass a law to incarcerate convicted repeat offenders. The abandoned baby was searched for and raised by her mother's best friend, Fran, from university. She grew up in abject poverty while her sister, Corine, lived a life of opulence and great privilege. When Fran died, Amber was forced to ask her real mother, Joan, to help her. Her totally cold mother eventually agreed to employ her to be the carer to her autistic son born from her second marriage. Her twin sister hated her and made her life a complete misery. The twists and turns in the plot fascinated me. Highly entertaining. Strongly recommended.

Also but
The story ideas were interesting but throughout the entire novel there are grammatical and editorial mistakes. I found it very annoying.

A real page turner
I was captivated from the beginning. Then when I realized there was a twin sister in the story I couldn't put this book down. This story has everything necessary for an intriguing read, there is mystery, revenge, a bit of a love story, wealth and fortune. There is also the "lost" mother that won't claim her child. Add to this story the death of the adopted mother and the new knowledge that Amber has a biological family she knew nothing about. There are twists and turns, enough to keep you hooked up till the very end. Would recommend to anyone that is looking for a really good read

Enjoyed this book
I thoroughly enjoyed this book,*Girl, Abandoned*. It is a rags to riches tale, with everything working out in the end. However, the author adds some intriguing details and turns to the plot, in order to keep this convoluted mystery quick moving and interesting. However, one details bothers me: I suppose I ought not to question it without giving away the story, but it has to do with the nature of the operation that one of the sisters was forced to undergo.Surely she could have undergone a less invasive procedure, that didn't involve messing with her hormones? This part of the story shows either that the author doesn't know much about female physiology, or that such a simple operation is not available where she lives (hard to believe). Other than that harrowing detail, I do like the flow of the story. Everyone seemed to get what they deserved, in the end (except for this operation thing: I kept expecting the author to turn that around in some way, too, so that it didn't really happen? And it seemed the main character accepted that operation too lightly, too. With her brains and verve, you'd think she'd research it, and get doubly tested, first?) That was the only shortcoming of an otherwise very enjoyable read.

Excellent Book
I loved the suspense, the clean language, the direction the story went with all its unexpected twists and turns. At times I was disappointed with Amber's thinking - but then I had to remember she was only 18.

There are things I liked... and things I didn't.
Overall I enjoyed this book. I liked the narrative, style and pace and never got bored - that beings said I did get extremely frustrated with the main character. I mean how many times can you be mistreated and just turn the other cheek? At some point you just want to slap her in the face yourself and tell her to stand up for herself. From feeling and rooting for her I found myself just shaking my head at her actions and decisions. Still it was an entertaining read.

"Not my thing"
I was intrigued by the title. The writing style seemed at odds with the YA genre. As I waited for the story to catch fire I decided this was not my thing and caved.
