Mark Crilley Nail's it Once Again!
Mark has hit the "mark" once again with the 3rd volume of "Mastering Manga 3". The 3 volumes can take a novice and piece by piece teach the art of Manga starting with character faces to Background drawing to polishing off your drawings. Just remember this is Manga and not Anime, however, using techniques provided in this series can be used for Keyframes whether you're drawing by hand or by computer (whether you use painter or vector). As always Mark is the most notable Manga artist in the U.S. with hundreds of "how to" video's on YouTUBE. I personally consider Mark at the top of my lists as mentors. Just a quick note... I've had reputable production companies (no free advertising here) De-spline each volume and I take the pages home and have all 3 volumes "holed" and placed in a 3 ring binder scanning and page marking are as easy as... 1, 2, 3.... Oh hell I might as well tell you but Fedex/Kinko's and the UPS stores ought to be able to de-spline your volumes or direct you to someone who will. The cost is cheap.. just a few bucks. Good luck to all you amateur Manga Artists.. as well as those who are experienced. I believe "Mastering Manga" can help anyone whether novice or experienced find ways to improve their drawing experience. Remember, anyone can draw you just need to take that first step.

Always a great buy.
Mark has yet to disappoint with his mastering manga. At one point i have owned at least one of each of his entries is the mastering manga series. They are beautifully written it feels like he was giving you the lesson himself. All the lessons in the book are straight to the point.

Love All Three Volumes, and Wish Author would release Another!
Love the product, the love the author. Seller was great, too. No complaints. Sorry it took me so long to review: I forgot. I'd buy from this seller again. The Mastering Manga series in general is great because it doesn't teach you to just copy the pictures: It details how to build the bodies/forms, as well as touching upon techniques. You're not just given a copy paste method, but the understanding of how the shapes connect and what they represent. In addition, the author/illustrator goes into details about paneling, composition, value, and other elements besides constructing figures. Great books all around, and the this first volume I actually READ through. The text is conversational and engaging, which is not always the case with instructive texts.

... this book without hesitation mostly because I was so happy with Mark Crilley's first two book in this series
I bought this book without hesitation mostly because I was so happy with Mark Crilley's first two book in this series. (I hope he makes a 4th)Again, Mark takes it one next level, improving techniques for a more advanced style while still not rushing things through the book.More advanced poses, character interactions and character types are covered in the book as well as some techniques to help you speed up your drawing a little bit. There's also tips and coverage of scenery, shadowing and backgrounds, some clothing and costume tips and coloring covered.I recommend this book for those of you who are pretty good already, but are stuck on how to improve your art and bring it to the next level, although I did debate as to whether to give it 4 or 5 stars for a bit because I felt there could be a little bit more in this one.

It's a good book
Looking forward to learning from it. Been learning from Crilley's YouTube videos, but books allow me to slow down and think over how to draw in the manga style. I advise using both the books and the videos together.

Absolutely loved it!
I was a little nervous about buying a how to draw manga guide from a non-Asian guy. But to be honest, his whole how-to-draw manga series is amazing. I'm on deployment just trying to learn a new skill so I don't have a lot of fancy art supplies. These books only require the basics. Pen (inking), pencil, paper, eraser, and sometimes ruler. I can actually draw characters now and do silly quick sketches that I'm not ashamed to have people see. I definitely would buy more of his books! They are SUPER simple to understand and even the most un-artistic person can follow along.

Manga perfect
Had a hard time getting the concept of manga down considering the simplicity of the style and being a detail artist. Mark Crilley's books and videos helped me put it all together. Still need to work on hair but,I think I'm getting my style down. Love you Mark, thanks for helping put a unique momento together for my wife a daughters and to pass my down time in Stan.

Skip the hardship of trial and error. Easy clear steps and method. This book, along with 1 & 2, form a solid foundation framework for anyone to explore their creativity and imagination wether for fun and relaxation or more serious goals…
If you want to start on the right foot apprenticeship is a good route. This series is like an apprenticeship in your pocket, a solid foundation to build your own creations. So many creative people find they have eclectic impulsive interest focus switching issues, jumping to whatever peaks interest at a moments notice. Having a framework like these books can help a lot... Shiny really really interesting things excepted of course. :)

Powered up
As with the first two mastering manga books Mark really shines.Still easy to follow while presenting a few challenges to keep things interesting. It goes more in depth on dynamics while showing you subtlety and how positioning and emphasis greatly affects the feeling you get from a picture, stylistic choices and much more.Truly a wonderful series, whether drawing for fun or for your own manga illustrations and comic series' you can definitely power up your manga art.

Mr Crilley does it again
And we're on Book 3. Mark still surprises me in the way he brings the rising artist what he needs and when he needs it.
