5-Piece HSS Countersink Drill Bit Set for Wood and Metal - 82 Degree 5 Flute High Speed Steel with 6mm Hex Shank - Sizes 1/4'' to 3/4'' - Includes Bit Case

This is an item that I used infrequently, but it's nice to have when the need arises. The case is convenient and easy to store in my toolbox.

Been using these JTJAOUEN countersinks for a month now, mostly in oak, walnut, cherry, and HDPE plastic and they have worked really well. I have a few sets of drill bits with countersinks on them but a lot of times I either don't want to drill as deep as needed to engage the countersink or the bit is too large for the screw I'm using so these stand alone countersinks have come in very handy.They are sharp and have stayed that way, the flutes are well shaped and the points are all nicely centered and they make nice clean round countersunk hole. They do have a problem with their finish, and that's why I only gave them 4 stars, but functionally they have been great. I also love that they come in a box with foam cutout slots for each piece so they're not just banging around in a drawer.I went ahead and countersunk 2 holes in oak for this review. This is after I've been using them throughout the month and 1 hole was with a pilot hole preexisting and the other was just the countersink witrh no pre drilled hole. You can see a little hexagon in the counterbore of the 3/8 and 1/2 when there was a pilot hole but none when I countersink first then drill.I definitely like this countersink set and would recommend it.

My countersinks are still new, so I can't speak about longevity or durability.But they are beautifully made and come in a very attractive case.I'm very happy with them.

The quality of these countersink bits is quite good, with nice edges on the cutting flutes and plenty of size variation for most applications. I have used them on aluminum, wood, and plastic (ABS and HDPE), and the results are excellent. You can also certainly use them on steel, just understand the life span of these bits will be shortened considerably as they are only high-speed steel. Still, for all other materials, this is a great value for the money.

These are dull. They look great and they are solid but they don't cut without a lot of force. I had read the reviews before purchasing and was hopeful that I would get a sharp set. I am returning.

The perfect companion to my Sherline lathe and vertical mill. With a ¼” shank they fit the #1 Morse taper 3 jaw chuck and work perfectly with very little runout in aluminum and brass. These have not been tested on steel yet.

The presentation of these is awesome. Nice padded aluminum box. They look very high end until you notice the rust that is crusted all over one of the countersinks (see the picture). The finish looks different on each of these tools even though this is a set. Looks are one thing, and they are somewhat important but the most important quality is how do these work? Well, 4 of the 5 work really well. I can even overlook the rusty one as it works well and cuts nicely, even at 650 rpm. Most of the rest of this set work equally as well. That's what's important to me. The 3/4 countersink, however, has it's own set of problems. It is finished nicely but it chatters more than almost any other countersink I own (and I own more than a few). Unless I run the 3/4 tool at super slow speed it will leave chatter marks and that is no good. I'm guessing there is a problem with the cutting angles but I'm not sure.The set is a decent deal for the money, just keep in mind that there is a possibility that not all of the tools in the set could be 100%.
