Q: If I put this on my firebox, will it hold up or will it melt?

Hi It wont melt, but its not for fireboxes so it wont last. We have firebox gaskets. thanks -BBQgaskets a division of Island Outdoor, LLC the BBQsmokerMods Pros

Q: can this be used to seal the dome lid of a brinkman smoker

I use it on my 2 door stand up smoker. As long as it does not touch direct flame you can seal any grill you like in my opinion. PS i put a lighter to it and it does not catch, it just shrinks.

yes it will not rip or tear unless it is constantly chaffing.
