I seldom give 5 stars, but I seldom get this much value from any book
I just want to comment on a couple of reviews complaining that the book gets a bit technical. You won't need a degree in biology or something to understand the book; the author has done the hard work for us, and packaged information in an accessible way. It is packed with scientific proof, and it should be. I have recently been diagnosed with CVD and if I am going to trust my path to recovery to information I damn well expect it to stack up! You can't drive a car or use a computer without a measure of specific education allow you to get the best from them, so too with understanding our bodies, health, and choices in a world where a whole lot of profit stems from our ignorance. I now understand the risks better than before, and some pretty easy to remember 'on the fly' tips as I normalize the wider information. My heartfelt plea if you're reading my review this far is to be ready to invest a few hours of your life in the realistic expectation that you can learn to add years to your life. Wishing everyone the best for their health and well-being, and if you do nothing else, start with this book.

Need more proof to eat more plants? Here it is
A great book that brings together all the science that supports a plant-based diet. The book is easy to read and accessible with lots of good analogies. Plant foods are great for you and the planet and you can read about the science that backs that up. The book pushes a mostly plant-based diet. It doesn't push vegan or vegetarian. Being mainly plant based is the aim. The more the better. Highly recommend the book. I follow the Plant Proof podcast - thanks Simon for all the wonderful work that you do in sharing the science.

Frustratingly poorly authored
Granted, I know thus topic well so little is new to me. But here are the facts: 1. Mostly Australian data. 2. Lots of research notes but cannot find them in the book. One must go to a separate website. No footnotes or endnotes in the book, which is frustrating if you like to quickly glance at the reference or back-up facts. 3. Large font and double spaced, which smacks of a children’s book. Tighten it up and there’s plenty of room for footnotes. 4. A good portion of the book is dedicated to the background of the author, which is not why I purchased the book. He’s good on podcasts and such, but his blah background adds little to the topic at hand. This book is simply a waste of cash. It’s not cheap. I’m deeply disappointed and will use the paper to light my fireplace this winter.

My new nutrition bible
Great book. Well written with good actual science backing. I'm so glad I bought the actual book so I can keep it on my shelf as a reference. Thanks for this Simon Hill!

Awesome book. Great knowledgeable and trustworthy information. Must read for anyone!
Simon has a ton of knowledge and experience in the field of plant based nutrition. This book has helped me tremendously in my own plant based business. A definite read for anyone who is plant based, wants to be plant based or wants more knowledge about nutrition and how foods can heal your body.

Very dry, technical book
This book is not what I expected. It is very dry reading. This might be good reading for a biologist or clinical nutritional, but not for the average reader. Plus customer service was awful. I was unable to get the requested tracking information. It took weeks for the book to arrive.

Awesome, evidence-based read!
Simon has done an incredible job creating this evidence-based resource on a more plant-centered diet. I absolutely love his neutral voice and his confidence that the evidence will present his point. I have been whole foods plant based for many years but I learned so much in this read including info on nutrients of focus as well as environmental considerations. Awesome job Simon!

Buy the paperback if you want to use as reference
I bought the kindle version and as my kindle is quite old the diagrams and tables cannot be enlarged so I recommend the book but I would have preferred to the paperback version as all the diagrams and tables would be bigger and readable!

Evidence and research based advice without an agenda
Bang up-to-date research and evidenced based advice without any agenda apart from letting you make your own informed decisions on what is healthy to eat for a long active life.I've been whole food plant based for over two years now and this book is an excellent summary of all of the best practises that I've learned and adopted in that time.

Brilliant book. I can’t recommend strongly enough
Brilliant book. I can’t recommend strongly enough. I adopted a WFPBD about eight months ago. It was a gradual process arriving there and no one was more surprised than me when I did. I read a lot of books, listened to lots of podcasts and watched far too many videos. Most of what I read was good but this is probably the best. I'd especially recommend it as a starting point. It's very readable. Not too much science and what is included is easily understandable. Simon's approach is balanced, not too preachy and science based. He provides you with lots of data then it's up to you to decide whether you want to introduce some changes. He's realistic and doesn’t expect too much. I initially approached this with a focus on health a wellness so I was particularly interested in the primer on the environmental damage the standard western diet causes including how animals are treated. Read and hopefully you'll introduce some positive changes into your life. Small steps are better than no steps.

Australian perspective
This book is a must read for Australians suffering from obesity and chronic diseases. While most of the information has been available in the USA for a number of years it is good to see that slowly Australia is waking up to the benefits of eating more fruit and vegetables.A well written book with lots of useful information.
