This is the 5th leather journal (4 10×7 & 1 6x8) purchased from Amazon. I was used to the lockable ones with the handmade paper type. This one is set up different and created a unique experience just in the positioning. Just a few things first, many are saying things like, there is a bleed thru on the inside cover, it isn't really refillable, the accent on the front is just painted leather not actual stone advertised. There were a few others.. but I wanted to address these statements in particular.1. Cover bleed through- This one made me laugh. The front piece is NOT glued on as with others, it is woven and mechanically attached. So therefore, there will be holes.. any intellectual human being knows if there are holes, the eyes WILL seep through. Its the physics of liquid. That being said, yes there is alittle as shown in previous pix posted.2. Really isn't reliable. Anyone that has purchased these type journals know that this is a no & yes question. It depends on you. It is refillable, you just have to follow the directions to carefully do it.3. The front decorative piece. Its really not difficult to tell the difference between leather and rock. This is a rock but it does have a protective top coat. Just like when we do our nails ladies. A top coat protects the design. Hello!! I think we live in such a manufactured world now, some are mistrustful of anything that claims to be genuine or hand made. Doesn't bode well for our society. I'm currently using this for a journal/newspaper scrapbook. The paper is thicker and works well with any type of pen/pencil/carcoal/marker/ect. (I have not tried it out with watercolours or any paints) Holds up really well with paste sticks/glue dots/tape ect. I'm pleased with the purchase.

Such a beautiful Journal, exactly as pictured, great price, and quick shipment. It is sturdy (hooks as well), durable, and the perfect size. Stone is a beautiful deep blue and seems to be very secure in the front cover, and the color and embossing of the leather gives it a very special/magical feel. The paper is unlined, off-white and thick. The perfect vessel to hold my thoughts and important writings~~ like a work of art and keepsake, unlike any journal I've ever seen. Would make a very nice gift as well. Can't wait to start writing in this :) Very happy with my purchase!

I want to start off this review talking about the excellent customer service! I needed this journal before the holidays. I got in contact with the seller and within an hour I was emailed back. They answered all my questions and concerns. The seller was very helpful! I paid expedient shipping, but it would get to me after the date I needed, so the staff made sure I received it when I needed it. I, like many other people, waited last minute to shop for the holidays.As for the journal it self, I read reviews saying it was low quality and cheap, that they expected more. Honestly, the journal is great. They were talking about staining inside the journal, yes it does have staining. That just gives it a rustic charm. I gave it to my friend (I was her secret Santa) she loved it. She told me it reminded her of the Hocus Pocus spell book. I asked her if the staining bothered (we are honest with each other) and she said no she said that's what she loved the most about it! The journal is small and cute! The latches are to die for. Just absolutely adorable.The only thing I do have to say is if you're sweating the paint does stain your hand a little. Nothing that can't be fixed.Overall, its great! I loved it! The staff competent, caring, helpful and awesome!

I’ve gotten 10+ of these journals from a few Amazon sellers. I’ve gotten worse, but I’ve definitely gotten better as well. The top book is one from a similar seller on Amazon, the bottom is the book for this review. They both had stains from the circle design in the leather, it’s to be expected, this one wasn’t that bad. The book I just ordered has these weird intentions in the paper as well as scratches, it’s hard to tell in the photo but they’re pretty deep and dented a few pages into the book. The cover also has some pen stains, I assume it’s a returned item? Otherwise someone’s flailing around blue pens in this factory because this isn’t the first one I’ve gotten like this. I’m still going to use it and it’s very beautiful (especially for the price), I wouldn’t take the chance getting this particular one as a gift for someone

This journal was a perfect Anniversary gift, included paper, leather and Lapis Lazuli for our 9th anniversary.

This is a really well made leather journal. The leather has a nice thickness and it is the exact same pattern that you see in the picture. The latches do work really smoothly. This journal would be great for anyone who likes to write or draw. The pages are thick. The only difference I would note is the stone that is set in the cover. It is not like the stone pictured. I ordered two journals and both stones are a very dark colored, slightly dull and not perfectly smooth. However, that being said, the design is consistent with what is pictured and the quality and detail more than make up for any imperfections. I have showed these journals to a few people and they were really impressed. I highly recommend this as a gift to anyone who like to write or sketch. These will be a gift for my nieces along with some good quality pencils and drawing pens.

My granddaughter likes to keep her sketches and this makes a great keepsake

We received the journal a few days ago and it is as beautiful as the picture. We are planning to give the journal to my daughter for Christmas but I have taken the time to look at it and it is definitely made well. The craftsmanship is old school quality with stacks of paper sewn together, folded and then sewn into the binding the way they used to make books and journals. The leather cover is beautifully finished and we love the metal clasps to keep the journal closed when not in use. This is definitely a lovely journal to write in and leave out as a decorative piece when not in use.

I love the colour which is a darkish brown, the size of 10 inches so that it lies flat for writing in. I haven’t used it yet, but will be on my day off.

first page is stained (from the leather strings) and the stone is cracked. otherwise as described except for the refill part since it would involve you binding a new book with the old jacket.
