Practical Guide to Patternmaking for Fashion Designers: Juniors, Misses and Women

Its a good book for those who work for individual clientes but its not a good book for those how work on fashion industry, and thiss is why: there are many measurements required on the construction of the bodice and torso sloper that the autor doesnt provide in the table chart measurements, for exemple:- Centre front neck to shoulder tip-Half the front bust level-Centre front length- Shoulder tip to centre front waist- Shoulder tip to apexWell, when you work for a big range of sizes you must have those measurements, like, for exemple, helen armstrong provide in her books.Has we know, if its not possible to make this two basic slopers, its not possible to do all the models made from them, like coats, jackets, dresses...)It would be nice if the author, Lori Knowles, provide this missing mesurements for those who work for fashion industry...Same problem whith the menswear book by Lori Knowles.Best regards!

This book is absolutely fantastic, it not only talks about pattern drafting but pattern draping and making patterns for knits as well. It is an extremely professional book showing you how to measure a person and a mannequin. Also how to write a speck sheet etc.The absolute best part of the book is that it includes all sizes from teens to plus sizes as well as petite sizes, most pattern books do not have standard measurement for plus sizes. The information is clear and not cluttered.The only down side is they do not give you an abundance of different pattern designs for different garment styles. Questo libro ha veramente tutto ciò che si può volere imparare per chi si cimenta alla creazione di cartamodelli, anche per chi non ha mai seguito un corso. Moltissime figure che spiegano passo passo come fare, più un po' di sana teoria per riuscire a modificarsi i modelli da soli. In inglese, ma non è difficile da capire, e le immagini molte volte parlano da sole. Veramente consigliato!

First , the cover and spiral binding of the book is what attracted me. Its been 2 years and im still disappointed. Too many unnecessary measurements, very mechanical inthe teaching approach, and definitely not for the beginner...Been sitting on my shelve gather dust. ....

This book is advertised as being a ring bound book but it is not it is paperback be aware.
