Worth the price; versatile beyond Pinot
I really love these Pinot glasses. The glass is thin but strong, and worth the price. There are even finer glasses out there, but many of the top-end models are extremely fragile and require hand washing. These glasses do a better job balancing elegance with practicality. Despite feeling almost as delicate as hand-blown glass, they're dishwasher safe, and quite durable; takes a proper drop to break them.I discovered these drinking Pinot with my Dad, but in my own house, in addition to weekly use for wine, they get daily use for beer, where I specifically prefer this model of Pinot glass over any of the traditional beer glasses. They have a shape that's similar to the glasses that are marketed for Belgian style aged beers (wide, tapering slightly at the top, with enough capacity to hold the aroma). But the glass is higher quality and thin enough that it doesn't warm the beer as a pint glass would. And the longer stem slows heat transfer. They're just really ... pleasant.Given how much I've enjoyed these Pinot glasses, I bought a sampling of the other Riedel models, including their "beer glass", and they were all well-made, but this Pinot glass is still my favorite style, with (in my view) the greatest versatility.

My Favorite Vinum So Far
These are beautiful, large glasses, which make a difference in our enjoyment of out favorite Pinot Noirs. I suppose, these are versatile enough for almost any red, but I certainly can tell a difference when I use the varietal specific glasses for the wine it is meant (I currently also own the Bordeaux/Cabernet and the Syrah). No doubt, these are delicate, as is the entire Vinum line of crystal, but with a delicate touch and some patience, they will make it through the cleaning process. I find it essential to lightly use a stemware brush without soap and the Riedel microfiber polishing cloth for that task. As for the Pinot glasses, I really like them a lot.

My favorite wine glass
This is my favorite wine glass! They aren't so expensive you cry if they break, so they can be handled for everyday use and they are dishwasher safe. The shape is pleasing and they have a nice ping noise when you tap them, as a good wine glass should. They give a great aroma for most red wines and are a great all-rounder.

We purchased the glasses because they were supposed to be sturdy. The first time I was hand drying the glass after hand washing it, the glass literally exploded in my hand and shattered into scores of tiny pieces. I was left with the base and stem intact. It was very scary and dangerous. Also, my husband thought he purchased 8 but he only purchased 4. I am not sure how that happened. However, I am sure that I was being careful with the glass when it exploded. Unfortunately, we decided past the deadline to return them.
