Presidential Pets: The Weird, Wacky, Little, Big, Scary, Strange Animals That Have Lived In The White House

I read before I gave to grandkids. Just great. A president in Jair for speeding! Great! book Should be used in middle school.

Julia Moberg’s wonderful book is advertised for grade levels 3-7, but I believe it’s really for ages 3-70+, especially because it offers a good opportunity for the adult reader to pick and choose the best fun ways to explain its content to any child listening.The book covers all American presidents from Washington to Obama: Each president gets a Poem (most of them pretty good rhymes, but, ok, a few are a bit of a stretch); Stats (term of office; first lady; vice president; political party; years lived; jobs before presidency; nickname); Tell Me More (oftentimes juicy tidbits); and Accomplishments and Events.If the author ever updates her book, I’d like to recommend she modify her George Washington entry to remove his Federalist party designation. Washington studiously avoided being labeled a Federalist, strongly preferring no party affiliation in an effort to unify and heal America after its long war with England and to avoid the opportunities to get entangled in ongoing wars between England and France.Overall, the book is a charming, delightful read for the child at heart who’d like to find a fun way to instill a sense of national history in children beginning their journey through life.Highly recommended!Of possible interest:  George Washington's Liberty Key: Mount Vernon's Bastille Key – the Mystery and Magic of Its Body, Mind, and Soul , a best-seller at Mount Vernon. “Character is Key for Liberty!” and Strategy Pure and Simple: Essential Moves for Winning in Competition and Cooperation

Fun way to get a child to read!

This book Presidential Pets is easy to read and has fun facts in it too. I write books and this is very helpful.

This is going to become my go-to book for friends with young kids! The rhymes about the presidents and their pets make it fun for kids... some of the eyes of the illustrations make the pets look like they've been up all night drinking Red Bull, but it's fun. Love this. Perfect for the parents who love history and animals!

My child is obsessed with the President's, so he loved learning about their pets, too! He stayed interested throughout the entire book.

This is wonderful book for both children and their parents. The cartoon animals are hilarious ; Before you know it, you will know all sorts of pertinent facts about every President including his personal statistics, personal facts, his accomplishments and the poetry to introduce each one is amazing, i.e:. "As animal lovers, The Clevelands accrued, so many pets, Their house was a zoo! Foxhounds and dachshunds, Ran all around, Chasing wild rabbits all over the grounds."

Julia in her two published books writing for children and young adults have a meaning that can educate our youth about facts and accomplishments by our forefathers and daughters (in "Skies Over Sweetwater") that may have gone unknown. She brings this information in a very readable (Skies) and with "Presidential Pets" a very fun format. Children can learn about our forefathers in a more informative way. When I was a child I had to memorize the names of the presidents not knowing anything about them, take a test and then it was out of my head. The factoids, the stats and accomplishments she presents offer so much more than our history books do. The poems are fun to read and to listen to if being read to. This is a great book!

A fun little book. We had already bought the book for my father-in-law as a gift, and decided to purchase our own copy. A great present for Americans!

This book is brilliantly written! Correct balance of fun facts and humour - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED READ! Full five stars given.
