Hooked From The First Page
* NO SYNOPSIS *Loved it!I've never read any of the current crop of paranormal romance novels. I got my fill of vampires and shape shifters in the 90's via Anne Rice, but I wanted to give "Wild" a try because I like this author.I was very pleasantly surprised. The book had me hooked from the get go. Yes, I was left wondering how or why Selene became a shape shifter, but because this genre is new to me, I have nothing to compare it to.I did love the empathic bond between Eve and Selene. I am usually put off by love at first sight, but in this instance it seemed authentic. Selene does not fully understand the ramifications of her true nature so the strong pull the women feel towards each other seems plausible. The fact that they fall into bed so early on also seems justified if Selene's true nature brings out the "real" Eve. At one point, both charachters seem to "get it" and they acknowlege it as being a fundimental part of their love for eachother.Of course, in any romance, the charachters are pulled apart and in this case I was so engaged with the two women that it pulled at my heart strings.I did feel that Eve's ex, Jac was a bit nonsensical and I found it hard to believe her reaction to Selene at the end of the book. I also found other aspects of the ending a little hard to believe, but as with most romances, you know and expect a happy ending.I felt that all the sex scenes made sense given the unexpected nature of Selene's character and they are certainly hot.All in all, I really enjoyed this book. It lends itself to expect a seuqel and I'm hoping that is the case.

Shape-Shifting, Crime Solving, Super Hero
Eve, a forensic pathologist hunting down a serial killer, falls in love with Selene, who happens to be a shape-shifter afraid of revealing her ability.Great romance with steamy erotica (Meghan is QUEEN).Reading about Selene using her abilities to protect Eve and track a killer is some of the best, most entertaining paranormal/were creature literature I've ever read.Meghan champions us geeks, and does us proud with Eve's fascination about things like mass displacement and maintaining human level thinking across shifts. This couple is adorable, with Selene so shocked Eve isn't running away, that she can't even fathom anyone would care about the science of her condition.Excellent book; I listened to the audible version after reading it, because I enjoyed it so much.Meghan - if you read this review, please know I'll read ANYTHING you write, and LOVE this paranormal story. What happens next? Does Selene become a crime solving super-hero full time? How do Eve and Jac convince everyone else things are just fine? Lots of eagle shows on car hoods, lol?

Another winner for Meghan O'Brien!! I loved it!
Wild was my second book by Meghan O'Brien but will not be my last! In fact I have purchased 5 of her 6 titles I found on Kindle/Amazon. I love that each one has such a different idea but the quality of writing is still the same. Amazingly thorough. Creative, witty, sexy and they keep you glued until the very end. I've lost several nights sleep because I just couldn't stop. Didn't want to. I was too invested in the story line and the characters. I thought the idea of a shapeshifting lesbian was a great idea, new and fresh. I wasn't wrong. My only complaint, if you can call it that, is that it ended. I want more! Lol I'm truly hoping there will be a sequel. I would love to see Selene work with Jaq on future crimes, and have more sexy adventures with Eve. Those two are so perfect together. Their love is inspirational and beautiful. The way Ms. O'Brien describes surroundings and the characters expressions and feelings is truly fantastic & realistic. I really felt as though I was a fly on the wall experiencing the drama, excitement and happiness that the characters were. I laughed, I cried, I got nervous and I cheered while experiencing this book. It was very well worth the price. I recommend this book or any of Meghan's work to anyone looking for an enjoyable and satisfying read.I've already read " thirteen", " the Night Off" and this one, "Wild" several times, but after writing this review, I think I'm going to re-read "Wild"again!

Charming and hot, would like to see more
Charming love at first not quite sight/ soul mates romance with an engaging and suspenseful murder mystery. The killer’s perspective could have been relegated to a prologue. It detracts from the rest of the story, but thankfully those chapters are fairly short. This would make for an interesting series if the author wants to do more with these characters.

My top favorites
First of all, the sex scenes were really detailed and wonderfully written. Nothing that was felt out of the ordinary, but nothing cliché or boring like some lesbian books I read out there.I could very well imagine every scene and was not bored to read through it.I do lots of fanfiction reading and most of them I tried to skip on the sex scenes because they just bore me or make me cringe. The reading of every sex scene felt natural and with a purpose. Now onto the story between Jac, Eve and Selene, I felt it was too obvious from the start. Probably because there isn't much to add to a not very mature ex-girlfriend, but it was understandable.I just wished to be able to read a backstory from the psychopath Kevin, his motives and also Eve dissecting him.All in all, this book goes to my top 10 favorites of all time.

It's really Tame
This is a decent read. It kept me engaged and entertained. I really enjoy a shape-shifter lesbian romance. Wild is really a non-human to human love story with all the mistrust and angst of any other love affair. To me, Wild is synonymous to extremist ideas and actions that hurt and destroy. The play on name and the usual suspect(s) makes this book worth the read. So Happy Reading

Wild
The Jacket says:"The only thing that frightens shapeshifter Selene Rhodes more than the full moon is the idea of falling in love.Selens Rhodes has lived her whole life with a terrible secret: not onlt can she take the form of any animal at will, but once a month the full moon transforms her into a fierce wolf-creature without a human conscience. Managing her condition means living by a strict routine, and more impotanatly, abstaining from intimate relationships with human beings. Selene is convinced that love and friendship can only bring pain.Forensic pathologist Eve Thomas is well-acquainted with the pain of romantic love. Swearing off relationships after having her heart broken by a cheating ex, Eve throws herself into her work: catching murderers. When Selene comes to her aid after an attack by a masked man in Golden Gate park, Eve is shocked by how powerful she is drawn to her mysterious savior.Shaken by her own feelings for Eve, Selene is even more terrified to realize she isn't even close to being the scariest monster stalking San Francisco. There is someone out in the city who is killing for pleasure, and his next target is the one woman he thinks might be able to stop him: Eve."

Fantastic
O. M. G. what a book. I loved it loved it loved it. This is hands down my new all-time favourite book. It's the first book I've read, finished, and started rereading immediately. I loved the writing and there is no way you couldn't fall in love with the characters, even when you want to not like jac. The story is sweet and even though it's a fantasy, it had a very realistic feel I find. I hope she does a sequel I will really like to see the work dynamic between Selene and jac and how the trio handle working together. Don't let me down O'Brien

Wow
This is probably one of my absolute favorite stories of all time. Meghan really nailed it with just the right amount of angst for Selene and her secret "shame". I really hope there is more from these characters in the future.

Best book I've read in awhile!
Holy moley. This book knocked my socks off. It's got sex scenes that left me all hot and bothered, a high-stakes plot that had me gripped, and a supernatural element that was both integral to the storyline, the characters' personality and her interactions with her lover, and also hit that sweet spot of being a deft metaphor for real-life experiences - particularly for me as a trans person.Another high point is the fact that two of the three main characters are women of colour. I loved this.A couple of things struck me as a little problematic. Firstly Eve's relationship with Jac. They're good friends, but also ex-lovers, and Jac is jealous of Selene. It runs the risk of a) not showing enough healthy friendships between women, instead casting them as always generating drama, being jealous, etc, and b) not allowing lesbian characters to *just* be friends with each other, because obviously they're lesbians! There has to be lust! Suffice it to say that O'Brien develops the characters so nicely in the book that this isn't a big issue. The other thing is that, with a murder plotline, violence against women is inevitably going to appear in the book. I'm wary of sex and violence getting unnecessarily conflated, to the point where violence against women starts being seen as sexy (I play lots of videogames and this is a particular problem in that industry - just look at the recent Hitman: Absolution trailer with the nuns for a particularly strident example). This does come up at a particular point in the book and I'll say that the author gives it due attention and resolves the matter gracefully. It speaks volumes about the quality of the book that I found the need to nitpick such tiny details. Overall, it was a wonderful read and I'd recommend it to anybody!
