Life saver
Upgraded my GPU from a 1650 to 4060 and didn't know it was 8-pin only while my PSU only has a 6-pin. The computer didn't even recognize the GPU, I was so upset! After an embarrassingly long time looking for solutions, I figured I should just spend the $10 on an adapter cord. Got it in 2 days, plugged it in easily with no problems with the connection or quality of the wires, hooked up my monitor to the GPU and after opening my driver's and refreshing, I swear I heard the hallelujah chorus as the 4060 appeared under my drivers. I booted up FFXIV to test it and the difference was like night and day. Well worth the $10 and you get two of them!

Great
Used them to connect my RTX 3070 gpu to my Dell 5810 tower. Worked perfectly

Cables DO matter and these 6->8 pin adapters work right. Do not heat up like cheapos I got elsewhere
I have some HP Z-series workstations. These have beefy 1150W power supplies, but only three 6 pin power cables (no 8-pin). The 6 pin cables run over 150W per cable, though, unlike most system (in other words, they are way more powerful than the nominal spec). Anyway, modern video cards all require 6+8 or 2x8 power adapters. What to do? Well, the easy thing is to use a 6-> 8 pin adapter. Since the power supply on the HP is sending well over the 8-pin spec along that rail, it's no problem. I first tried some budget cables I got off an auction site. They look great, and the wire casings are nice and thick, but as soon as I put stress on the video card, they got VERY hot. Cutting one open reveals very thin wire. No good. So I got these Cable Matters cables. They actually aren't much more expensive than the cables they are replacing. And these work GREAT. The cables do not heat up at all, even under full stress load. Nice. I will only use these cables from now on.

The Missing Link to Power My New GPU
When I upgraded to a new NVIDEA video card, I discovered it required power connectors that my power supply did not have. This left me searching for a solution because I didn't want to replace my existing PSU. Lo and behold, these Cable Matters 6-pin to 12-pin adapter cables were just what I needed! Installation was easy - just plug one end into my existing cables and the other end into the new GPU. The snug fit provided a secure connection and the 4 inch length minimized excess cord without putting strain on the components. PROS: Easy plug and play installation Snug fit prevents loose connections Short 4 inch length prevents messy wires Pack of 2 provides a backup cable or one for a friend, etc. CONS: Not as sleek as a single 12-pin cable With my new power hungry GPU now adequately powered, I was able to move past that hurdle. Unfortunately, my new video card wasn't compatible with my older system and I ended up returning it (and these cables too), but that was not a fault of these cables and now I'll keep them in mind for future needs. For anyone looking to connect a new high wattage GPU in an older system or one missing the correct connectors, I highly recommend these adapter cables to get up and running quickly. They elegantly solved the power dilemma!

They worked, nothing blew up
I needed the adapter to upgrade my nephews PC from an RX480 to a GTX1070. I ordered these and they arrived the next day. I was a little concerned about whether this adapter would deliver the power consistently since we're not adding more rails, just splitting existing rails. Upon installing them, after a strange glitch on the initial boot, the PC started back up without any problems, seemed to work just fine. Time will tell how they hold up, I certainly wouldn't install these on a GPU I couldn't afford to replace pretty easily, but they seem to do the trick. The only things you may have an issue with are cosmetic, they're ugly, but if you're using one of these you probably weren't doing an aesthetic build anyhow.

Highly recommended from Amazon. Works perfect without any issues. No over heating.

good solution as long as you understand the limitations
If you have a smaller power supply that supplies a 6-pin PCI-e connector and a graphics card with an 8-pin connector, the adapter will let you PHYSICALLY connect your PSU to the graphics card. Keep in mind that a 6-pin cable is for supplying up to an additional 75W to the card, and using this adapter will not magically increase the limit to that of an actual 8-pin cable which would be an additional 150W. To determine what graphics card you can use, you also need to know how much power can be drawn over the PCI-e slot your graphics card is plugged into (typically 75W, but less for some small form factor PCs) and also what your power supply is rated to supply. So you need to do your research and confirm the specs. Understanding these constraints, along with options provided by software like MSI Afterburner to limit the peak power consumption of a GPU, you can safely use this adapter with an appropriate graphics card. For my personal case, I am using this adapter for an EVGA GTX 1660 TI (8-pin PCI-e connector) connected to an HP Z240 Tower workstation w/400W 80+ platinum rated PSU (6-pin PCI-e cable/connector). For the Z240, I would want to keep the power draw of the GPU under 150W (75W over the 6-pin PCI-e from the PSU+ 75W over the PCI-e slot). The EVGA card (which is overclocked compared to reference Nvidia) spec says the power draw is up to 160W. So I use MSI Afterburner to power limit the GPU at 90% to keep the max power draw to under 150W.

Perfect to upgrade an older generation Dell Desktop
My youngest wanting to keep up with his sisters on Roblox at 5years old complained about lag and stutter. He being the youngest has the oldest PC in the home - which was a older Dell i7 desktop serviced purely by on board graphics. So having a spare 2060 sitting around and as no surprise found the Dell OEM power supply only had 6pin PCIe connectors - so used this adapter to connect power to the 2060 8pin port. So from start to finish 5 minutes and I was back into windows downloading new drivers. Worked perfectly for me and getting smoooth gameplay and peace of mind now that this little guy has stopped harassing me for an upgrade. Woo Hooooooo!

Solid adapter.
Works really well - received two of them for less than it costs for one at the local PC store. I was dubious about that; but it handles the conversion no probs.

High quality cable
Much better quality than others for sale. Thick gage wire that’s well insulated and does not get hot at all. Using it to power a RTX 3060 off a 6pin and has been working perfectly for 6 months

works fine
Used it for a vega 64 in my z620 workstation and they work fine. Be carefull when using these though because regular 6 pin cables can only deliver 75 watts (same for the pcie slot) so when using 2 you shouldnt use a gpu that uses more than 75*3=225 watts
