Hiking Utah's High Uintas: A Guide to the Region's Greatest Hikes (Regional Hiking Series)

Great Book and Well Detailed
Easily worth 5 stars. Plenty of info of how to drive to location and then home in. Great bonus info on fish in the lakes as well. I've hiked the uintas for years and wish I would have had this book as I passed so many great lakes that were unknown to me.

More of a fishing guide
People hate this book because it really only contains hikes to fishing spots. That's exactly why i bought it and I'm a fan.

you will probably be disappointed. Nearly all of the 100 hikes are short ...
If you expect this book to be about hiking, you will probably be disappointed. Nearly all of the 100 hikes are short out-and-back trips to lakes. The main focus is on the fish in the lakes, not the scenery along the route, which I think most hikers would say is more important. If you want to plan a backpacking trip for a few days, you're mostly on your own. The book will help a little, I suppose, but the the trails in the book can't be combined very well into a longer trip. OTOH, if you're a fisherman who enjoys the hike to the lake, this may be the book for you.

A fishing book
The book concentrated on fishing more than hiking...Many of the trails were back packing distances. 13 miles 18 miles 37 miles..and therefore not suitable for day hikes.

Don't buy this unless you're main goal is fishing
Not even worth one star, but they don't give you that option. If you want to make a decision on which trail will give you the hiking experience you are looking for, this is NOT your guide. No description of beauty and scenery - only fishing tips from one end of the book to the other. Waste of money and reading time. Totally frustrating and disappointing. Why did they call it a hiking guide!

I expected this to be about the 104 miles of the Uintas Highland trail. Was more about area trails.
I found only a couple pages on the highland trail. Most of the book was on other trails in the area.I expected it to go into great detail on trail terrain. Best places to camp when doing the whole 104 miles in one backpacking trip.Very disappointed and dissatisfied.

Book has the wrong title!
Fishing the High Uintas would be a more appropriate title.95% of the hikes in this book are treks to lakes and ponds.Only King's Peak got thrown in as the obligatory state high point in two described multi-day backpacking treks, and a traverse along the spine of the entire range. No other notable peaks or interesting points (other than lakes) are really covered.I got no inspiration and information on hikes I didn't already know about out of this guide book.
