Let the Stories Begin
About 10 brief, easy-to-read short stories with a Halloween-related topic are included in this book. The book also contains a few jokes for Halloween in the back of the book. personally love horror and my kids seem to have inherited that trait. There is nothing better than having a sleepover and sharing horror stories, and these are suitable for the majority of age groups. Although they are undoubtedly kid appropriate, I do believe that younger children will find these to be more frightening than older ones.

10 Halloween Tales - I liked it.
NIGHT LANDSCAPE: in the middle of nowhere in the pitch black darkness of night. Dead phone. No other cars on the road. A--l--l a--l--o--n--e. Now even the landscape is shifting in the darkness. Don't stop - keep moving - get OUT OF here! NOW!THE PHONE: It seemed odd to me, too. A phone in a graveyard? Who would you call? More importantly -- who would call you?THE HOUSE PARTY: No one can explain it, but everyone can hear the party every weekend in the vacant house. Music. Lights. But with no electricity? Many would try to get close enough to find out how this was happening, but only a pair of twins ever dared enter. Nothing has been the same since.UNDER THE BED: Take a clue, people! When you hear a sound under your bed, DON'T go there! SERIOUSLY! Have a little more sense than the goofballs in horror movies that always hide in the worst possible place of all. If something is going to come for you, for cryin' out loud: DON'T SHOW THEM THE WAY! That's just crazy! That's all I'm gonna say....THE THING IN MY DREAMS: Some of us just shouldn't sleep. Of course, if that were actually possible, we would more than likely be pursued in daydreams. When something wants you this much, it isn't going to give up just because you refuse to sleep and therefore dream. Oh, no. It's coming. One way or the other. Believe it!BEHIND YOU: Whatever is behind James in this story just proved my point for the last story: if it wants you, it's gonna get you. This one didn't need any kind of dream. It just kept moving closer and closer and....THE MAN IN THE DARK BLUE SUIT: There seems to be the same point to these stories. He's coming, and there is no escape. Gotta say this is already getting old. Yawn!DO NOT LOOK: We, we finally have a break in the pattern. Oh, yes. Have no doubt: something is still coming for you. But as long as you pretend it isn't - as long as you pretend to be asleep - as long as you refuse to look at it, you are safe. Don't you wish it were really that easy?DON'T BELIEVE IN GHOSTS: Poor, ignorant Dave. Well, at least he now knew the "haunted" house was just a regular old house. Mary had proven that.A FAMILIAR HOUSE: Yes, the house was familiar, but the man had no idea why. He didn't even know why he was in it. But there was one thing he knew: he wasn't getting out of it.

Spooky stories
It doesn't have to be Halloween to enjoy these short stories. They are spooky like what you would tell at a sleepover to scare your friends.

Cute short Halloween stories
I would say these are best for the 9-13 age range. They are indeed very short, each is a page and a half. They are well written, easy to read. My favorite was the one about a room hidden underneath a girls bed. Several of them are more cute than they are scary, including that one. My least favorite was probably "Do not look", it's more of a note than it is a short story. There is no plot whatsoever and the whole thing ends with "if you value your life, do not look behind", possibly a bit too much for younger kids.Couple of the endings you might have to explain, if you have a younger kid- "The Phone", about a telephone in a graveyard, ending with the main character returning a prank call and hearing the phone ringing back from the graveyard. Earlier in the story it says the graveyard is near the house so it makes sense that he would hear it through his open window, but it might be confusing for your child, if they are less than say 8 or so.Overall I think the writer is very talented, I do wish some of the stories were a bit longer, even though I understand the reasons why they are so short - kids have no attention span these days plus some of the open endings just add to the mystery ("Night landscape"). I still think there is room to improve some of these, but I'm sure the writer knows that :)I will definitely try more of his books.

Spooky Stories For Anytime
These are terrific spooky stories. The spook factor is turned up a little in these stories. There is a link to Arnie Lightning store. There are also jokes in the back of the book. What kind of street does a ghost like best? A Dead End!! Lol. The stories in this book are great and short enough and interesting enough your kid will read it over and over. They will also be able to remember and share the stories with their friends. I picked one story to share. William's HalloweenWilliam is a werewolf and he loves Halloween. It is the one night a year he can go outside and frighten people. This year he is hiding out in the cemetery and sees teenagers coming. He jumps out in front of them. He climbs a tree so he can see their faces as they run away. He hears a little girl crying. Some bad people jumped out and threw eggs on her and she lost her mom and dad. He helped her find her parents and from then on he became the helpful werewolf of Halloween. He made sure no child was pranked and he made sure they were safe.I found this book on Amazon for free and so can you.
