Q: can you use any roller cover?

No, you need the roller cover with holes in it to let paint get from the "stick" to the roller cover to the wall. T hey are easy to clean and re- use.

Q: Can this be used with boat bottom paint

Any water or oil based paint, stain or finish is just fine in the Paint Mate Plus as long as it's not too thick for proper application. There are a few things you can do to paint/stain to ensure it applies well. 1 - Stir the paint/stain with a mixer in a drill until its creamy smooth, about 1 min per gallon 2 - Strain the paint/stain 3 - Add a flow agent, like Floetrol or Paint Easy (this is not a thinner) for latex paint or Penetrol for oil based 4 - Or you can thin, even as little as 5% can make a big difference, water for water based materials and mineral spirit for oil based material. Up to 20% thinning does not hurt the material.

Q: Will this work for staining a deck?

Yes but they make a Deckmate that would work better. Use CWF stain, oil base with stain mate you will like the results, two coats on all hoizontal surfaces, good for 3 years.
