I DEW CARE Wash-off Clay Mask - Mighty Mask | Exfoliating Pores with Kaolin, Korean Skincare, 2.87 Fl Oz

I love I DEW CARE products, but I finally found one that my skin doesn't completely love back. This mask is great for oily skin, but not so much for dry skin. When applied on oily skin, the kaolin clay vacuums the excess sebum away while the coffee seed extract helps slough off dead skin cells to reveal the healthy skin underneath. I have an oily t-zone with super dry cheeks, and made the mistake of applying this all over my face after a successful patch test. I didn't think much of it until I washed the mask off my face and the skin on my cheeks felt really, really tight and dry. My t-zone felt great, though. Not over-dried, not itchy, not patchy, just clean and shiny skin. ready for whatever skincare products are up next. The mask can use a little help coming off from a washcloth or fabric makeup remover since it is clay-based, but it's not necessary. Warm water works better than cold, too. And make sure to apply this to skin that's already been cleaned - no makeup, no products, no dirt or grime.Now that I know to only put this on my t-zone (total duh moment on my part), I am loving this mask. Unlike a good number of clay masks I have already, this one doesn't make my skin feel like it's got a mild sunburn. I don't know if that's due to the fact that it doesn't have alcohol to irritate skin while the sebum is being pulled out, or the lack of well known irritants such as triclosan, coal tar, sulfur, oxybenzone, retinyl palmitate (similar to retinol), amongst others. (Since sebum is your body's natural skin protectant, stripping that away leaves it more vulnerable to these ingredients.) Kaolin clay itself is pretty drying, and there's just enough moisturizing ingredients in this mask to offset this IF your skin is already oily to normal. Just follow up with your favorite moisturizer (so your skin doesn't go into sebum production overdrive). As long as you don't leave this on for too long and don't use it on dry, flaky skin, you're good to go.

This mask is dispensed from a squeeze tube and is a bluish-grey cream with exfoliating particles in it. Has a light scent. You apply to oily areas of clean skin and rinse off after 10 minutes for a cleansing, purifying and exfoliating effect. Takes some rubbing to remove fully. It leaves skin looking and feeling deeply cleansed, but also a bit dry even though I only used it on my oily areas. This mask would likely be too drying for those with dry skin. This mask is terrific. I very much enjoyed using it this morning. I loved the lavender color. The mask had a very slight, pleasant scent and gentle tingly feel. I loved the addition of exfoliating grit to the mask, it felt great when I applied this to my face. It looked cool! It tried pretty quickly, just about 5 minutes. I rinsed off easily in the shower. My face felt deep cleaned and my skin looked great. “I Dew Care” is a great brand - fun and effective.

This was nice to try but I don't think I'll keep it. It doesn't stand out compared to any other mud masks I've tried, including homemade. The ingredient list is good, with no ingredients I would rather not have on my face (silicones, acrylates, petro-chemicals, etc). However, it just doesn't wow me. It's a basic mud mask indeed. It leaves that smell on my face that a lot of mud masks do, something like the smell of matches. When using a toner afterwards there's always residue left behind, so it's a necessary step. My skin feels normal afterwards, nothing to write home about but also no irritations. I'd only recommend it if you've never tried a mud mask before.
