good read
Great story but had a very simple ending . Although the Masters character is a bit repetitive in his actions. I thoroughly enjoyed the book regardless .

Great story and good strong characters.
Really brought this book only because the story is based near where I live. But I really enjoyed the story, and found the story line interesting. Shall be reading more from this author. Love a good murder mystery.

Good book
This was good story which I found hard to put down. It is the 2nd book in the series and I enjoyed as much as the first one, but with just one exception. I prefer my books to be stand alone stories. So the introduction of a "Mr Big" character hiding in the shadows will not encourage me continue with the series, which is a shame as I like the lead characters.

Gripping and enjoyable murder
Having read the first Carlos Jacobi book, it was good to follow his investigation into the mysterious deaths of three campers, leading to a complex case involving some really nasty bad guys. I thoroughly enjoyed this plot and look forward to finding what happens next when the next in the series comes out.

NICE DOG
A very long winded story full of cliche characters and with an improbable plot to say the least.

Another one solved!!
I thoroughly enjoy Dawn Brookes' writing. Mysteries of the cozy nature - no language or gory details. Still curious about Carlos' and Masters' issues but I'm guessing we'll hear about them eventually - can't remember if it came up in the Rachel Prince mystery series. I love the way Dawn develops characters and doesn't make them all "perfect". Looking forward to the next one.

Can't wait for the Carlos Jacobi-Book 3
As someone who has read eight (8) of the Rachel Prince mystery series and loved them all, I was anxious to read the second book in the Carolos Jacobi series. Dawn Brookes doesn’t disappoint. Although a little different in style than her cruise mysteries, Dawn has perfected the art of weaving character and location descriptions throughout the story in a way that does not interrupt the storyline. Her dialog style flows smoothly, reads naturally, and includes both a sense of humor and emotion when needed. As a resident of Texas, I get a kick out of checking out the definition of some uniquely British words instead of me having to explain our Texas slang. .It was easy and comfortable getting get to know Carlos and Fiona, and I fell in love with Lady. Although I had my suspicions of “who done it,” I couldn’t be sure until the end as there were several twists and turns along the way.Since there are a lot of secondary characters, I might suggest the addition of an appendix at the end to list all the characters by name with a few words of description to serve as a reminder of who they were. (It’s hard to go back and easily find a specific detail on a Kindle.)I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who wants to escape into the world of a cozy murder without an excess amount of violence, gratuitous sex and vulgar language. This mystery has believable characters, and a wonderfully presented story. At the end of the day, it was hard to put the book down. I couldn’t wait to get back to it to see what happened next.

Good murder mystery
Private Investigator Carlos Jacobi wants to spend time in London with his girlfriend and his favorite pooch, Lady. A request from a client to find and recover stolen puppies leads him to discover a large-scale dog-theft ring, and he becomes aware the mastermind behind the ring is involved in many other criminal pursuits.Carlos wants to see him behind bars, but his mission is interrupted when he is asked to look into the mysterious death of several individuals who were old school buddies, but have little else in common. Good murder mystery with lots of twists and turns will keep you turning pages.
