Temp Sticks saved our house from freezing water pipes and infloor heat tubes freezing in Jan 2025
We have a house at high altitude in Colorado and it gets cold, really cold. We are there part time. We have a cold alarm on our security system but a neighbor told me about these and I installed two. New Year's night while in Argentina I got an alert from my TempStick that the temperature had dropped to my preset level 60 degrees. I texted our caretaker; he got our boiler checked (it had failed); and he arranged installation of a new boiler. This was when a deep freeze was rolling in - minus 10 degrees and lower for ten days. If a house freezes water pipes break, but worse, in floor radiant heat tubes freeze and then your house is pretty much destroyed. Everything must be ripped out for repair. I had two Temp Sticks in our house; got alerts at different times from both (upstairs and down). I am back at our house now and just installed two more (garage and master bath). These saved our house. Adding a couple things -- this device came with a Duracell lithium battery, not a cheap worthless battery, a small lanyard to conveniently hang it somewhere (easy to tuck out of the way but where you want it), and super easy instructions. Installation with the app was fast and simple. It's a great product -- it works, it was thoughtfully designed, and the app is superb.

Great for peace of mind at vacation home
I had a smart thermostat that didn’t work and I wasn’t aware that my furnace stopped working at my vacation house. I bought this product and it works great so far after one month. Easy set up and monitoring. Worth every penny

Peace of mind is worth the price
Our expensive 2 year old fridge suddenly stopped cooling, and we lost $200 in groceries that were bought the day before the failure. We did some research and some home troubleshooting that seemed to fix it after a few days, so we re-stocked the fridge. Within 2 days, it failed again and we lost all those groceries too. At that point I was so paranoid about not being able to trust the fridge (we have folks with significant health issues in the house, and so having safe food is EXTREMELY important), so I started looking around for a temperature alarm.I wanted something that didn't require a subscription, that monitored the temperature, which would also alert my phone/email of any big temperature fluctuations or when the temp went into the danger zone (over 40F). I wanted something that could also export the data, so we could show it to the warranty company and the repair technician. This fit the bill best, so even though it was significantly more expensive than I wanted, I got it. I'm so glad I did! It works wonderfully - we tested its temperature readings vs an analog thermometer & a laser thermometer for the first week and it always came out within a couple tenths of a degree. The app is easy to use and unobtrusive. The text alerts work very well with almost no delay. I didn't expect the ability to make it to readings more frequently when it finds the temperature outside of a set range, but that is now my favorite feature. I wish you could export the data to a spreadsheet file from the app, but you can only do that from the website. When the repair guy came, we showed him the graphs of the temperature fluctuations the fridge had been experiencing in the week and a half between the first issue and his arrival, and his mind was blown. He'd never seen anything like it, and raved about how much easier it made diagnosing the issue for him. He said that without these graphs, he'd have had to assume a smaller problem and try that first, which he was confident it *wasn't*, which would've wasted weeks more time before being able to get him back out when that fix didn't work. Since he could see the graphs and see how wildly the temperature was swinging and how long it was staying above 40F, he was able to get right to the actual problem without having to follow company policy of doing the cheaper, less-likely repair first. He installed a couple new parts, and told us how to troubleshoot that ourselves if it didn't work. He said if we had to call back to schedule another warranty repair, to tell them about the graphs and list the readings for them on the phone so they could order the appropriate parts ahead of time. Thankfully, we didn't need to do that since his first repair seems to have fixed the problem well enough that we've now gone three weeks without it ever going above 40F for longer than 15 minutes (after someone opens the fridge for more than a minute or so).I'm so happy with this thing, it was worth every penny for the peace of mind - and the time saved on unnecessary repairs.

This thing works so reliably!
I used this thing to check if my fridge was staying cool enough. It's really easy to set up, there's step-by-step instructions included and even somebody who is clueless like myself could do it. I did have a problem accessing the setup page but that's because I had a bad browser on my phone (Opera) and switching to a normal browser like Firefox fixed the logging in problem. When you open the app on your phone you get a nice graph of the temperature and humidity. You can pick the time range in days/weeks to look at it historically, including the last 24 hours. You can click on data points to see the exact temperature and humidity at that point but it also reports the highs, lows, and average. What I like is the simplicity of the app: no ads, no nagging, easy to use. It just shows you info and that's it, exactly as it should be. The software developers that made this thing should be commended for sticking with a "keep it simple" philosophy because it's so easy to use.About privacy you do have to register an account with Ideal Sciences (Temp Stick creator) but they don't want any info other than a user name and password. And you do have to give the Temp Stick device your WiFi password so it can join the network, which is understandable. I can't find any information about their privacy policy or security policy though -- no reason to doubt them and maybe I'm not looking in the right place, but I would like to know more about that.My wish list for improvements would be:1. Some way to pinch to zoom in/out on the graph and scroll left and right through it.2. Able to look at the last N hours instead of 24 hours. These are minor issues though. For fridge users, my experience is that every time the door opens the humidity goes up, and if you accidentally leave the door ajar the humidity stays up. So the humidity graph is a great thing to check first to see when the door was open. Then check the temp graph at the same location. What I learned from using the Temp Stick is that my fridge is just fine, but putting warm food in really does make it work harder and I need to set the cooling level a little lower than I thought. I'd never know otherwise!Anyway the Temp Stick is a little pricey but in my experience it's 100% reliably, easy to set up, easy to use, and very, very convenient.
