The Magpie: the gripping thriller everyone is talking about (The Billie Wilde Thrillers)

Shocking beginning which some might find upsetting but certainly gets you hooked right from the start. As the bodies pile up the personal and professional life of the main character becomes more intertwined as her flashbacks begin to throw light on her childhood. So many twists snd turns with perpetrator/s not being unveiled until the very end. Such a dark motive was impossible to guess the “who dun it.” Absolutely loved it, a truly gripping read.

What a fantastic debut novel from this author, this book had me gripped from beginning to end. Main character was likeable and portrayed well as a strong confident female.This story had you wanting to read just one more chapter, every time i thought i knew where this story was heading i was wrong, lots of little twists and turns that kept you interested.I'm definitely looking forward to reading more from this author.

This is a dark and sinister story to rival a Val McDermott plot - I love murder mysteries and always try to work out what will happen next but I must admit I simply couldn't guess the twisty ending, but there again I bet you wouldn't be able to guess the twisty middle either! Couldn't put it down till I'd finished it.

I like reading crime thrillers and saw a recommendation for this book on Facebook. As I was nearing the end of Book 14 in the Geraldine Steele series ( Leigh Russell) and fancied a bit of a change, I ordered it from Amazon.Wow! I’m so glad that I did. Exciting, fast paced and with an attractive leading character that you can easily imagine and really get behind.Twists that surprise, secrets that shock, plenty of suspects to keep you guessing and a great ending ( that I had only partly figured out) . Oh, and there’s a little bit of sex and a hint of romance…I read this book in bed over three evenings. If I’d been off work and had the time I’d have read it in one sitting.It’s an absolute page turner.It’s the authors first book apparently, I seriously can’t wait for the next one !

The first murder is tragic- a small child but the links slowly build up with the detective's personal and professional life mixed in. Fast paced thriller with an interesting mix of characters. A real page turner that I read in 2 sittings! Looking forward to the next book.

Loved this book interesting plot which cracked along at a pace. It highlighted the complexities of relationships in a tale reminiscent of bouquet of barbed wire and although some of it was set in the part there was no irritating of drawing past and present in a separate tale until the conclusion the author managed to keep the tale complete and I interesting kept me guessing till the end excellent read

Fast-paced, edge of the seat book from the start. I read it in two days as I couldn’t put it down. Already feel a connection with Billie. Absolutely superb!

Wow! what a brilliant read from the opening car crash to the exiting and unexpected end. The detective heroine, Billy, really has a tough time right through the book but she takes it all in her stride and I was really involved in her life from start to finish. At some parts I could hear myself telling her what to do (or what not to do more likely) which in my mind shows what a good read this is. I hear there are more books to come with Billie as its main character so I can't wait. Buy this book its a cracker and you wont be dissapointed.
