Depends on the flavour you are looking for
I enjoyed this cacao which I use only in my coffee. I wanted a smooth, easy to stir ,no sugar and mild taste cacao . It is not as rich or bitter as other cacao powders and lighter in colorWhile I'm very satisfied with the product overall, I've rated it four stars instead of five due to the slightly higher price point compared to some other options on the market. However, considering its premium quality and the benefits it provides, I believe it's worth the investment for those who value top-notch ingredients in their culinary creations except that it is not organic if that is important to youIn conclusion, Rainforest Supply's Unsweetened Raw Cacao Powder is a fantastic addition to any kitchen, offering freshness, flavor, and nutritional benefits that elevate everyday recipes. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality cacao powder that meets their dietary needs and culinary standards.

Kind of like the milk chocolate of cocao powder
I have this pouch of cocao powder, and I have a container of another brand’s Special Dark cocoa powder. Both products have the same serving size – 5g. This has 20 calories, the other has 10. This has 26mg of calcium, the other has 10. This has 1mg of iron and 100mg of potassium. The other has 2.1 and 250. This is unprocessed and raw. The other is Dutched processed. I assume that the other, being processed, probably loses a lot of its antioxidant properties. As far as taste goes, the other is more bitter and significantly darker in color. As far as I can tell, you can use them interchangeably, but the flavor is going to be a little different. If I were using this in an application where I wasn’t going to add sugar, I might use this. If I’m looking for a darker, more bitter flavor, I would probably use the other or another brand that I have that is also more bitter. This seems like pretty good stuff, and I’m enjoying using it, but when I do use it, the result seems closer to the flavor of milk or bittersweet chocolate rather than dark, and I prefer dark.

Tasty Addition to my Mushroom Hot Chocolate
In the evening I like to make a super food hot chocolate that contains a variety of calming and relaxing ingredients such as rishi powder and other various mushrooms and maca powders. I like my hot chocolate extra creamy and chocolate tasting so I like to add cacao instead of cocoa in along with it. I won't bore you with the reasons why you should add cacao your immune system boosting regimen because chances are that if you are already considering purchasing this you already know why this is so much healthier and better than cocoa. I have tried quite the variety of different types and brands of cacao powders over the years and I find that this one is a pretty good one. It is nice and airy as it should be and it tastes fresh and it has not been overly processed. This is key when looking for a good quality cacao powder and something thand something that is a deal breaker for me.Highly recommended.

Fresh and good quality, but very mellow flavor
I was excited to try this in my baking, as I have recently been experimenting with (and loving) cocoa nibs...I had hoped this would impart that slightly bitter, deep flavor that comes from ground nibs. Unfortunately, it didn't. The flavor of this is VERY mild...I did both triple chocolate brownies and lava cakes, and replaced cocoa powder with this (I did adjust my liquids, as this seemed to absorb more, and I used baking soda in lieu of powder in the cake because of the differences in acidity). I was expecting a deep, chocolaty flavor with some bitterness, but this powder yielded really mildly flavored results (too mild for my taste). I would use it for other items, but it would be better (as others have said) for either straight use (like in flavored drinks) or when I want a really mild flavor (like when I make milk chocolate truffles). It's good, and the quality is there; I appreciate the company sourcing ethically, but it underdelivers flavor-wise for what one expects from a cacao powder IMO.I will try other items from this brand, but will stick with the dark cocoa powder I use for most of my recipes that demand deep chocolate flavor. This has found a place in my milkshakes for now (🤫...I mean in my healthy smoothies lol). 😁

Great stuff!
This is a really product. I'm a huge baker and love to try both new and old recipes for my friends and family. Cocoa/cacao powder is wonderful at making chocolate or giving recipes a chocolate flavor. The more you use the better and sometimes more bitter the flavor. This particular product is Non-Alkalized which is different than the ones you typically buy at the store which are all Alkalized. It is also unsweetened thus kind of bitter. It needs fats like butter/oil to wake up and a bit of sugar and/or salt to add more complexity like other plain single ingredient powders. It is great to use this in a variety of different things! Each order contains 5 oz in a resealable pouch. Apparently it was all Sustainably Harvested & Ethically Sourced from/in the rainforests of Ecuador and then packaged in the US. Overall I really like and would of course recommend it too!
