These are perfect!

It was really funny watching these work their way into my young teen's heart. She is a rising High School freshman, and yet she fell in love with these. She went from "part of me really wants these" to "I don't know which one I like best...I love them all!" I had been thinking to use them with her younger (second grade) sister, but she was like, "no! She won't properly appreciate them!" This proceeded to make my second-grader very sad because she instantly adored them, too. However, with college-ruled lines, I have to admit they seem better suited to older girls from a practical standpoint. I had truly thought my older girl would be too cool for them, but she utterly melted when she saw them.Basically, these are saccharine-sweet, over-the-top girly-girl notebooks. Like, I've never seen such feminine notebooks. It's not just the cover, but every single page that is adorned with little Paris or Jolie line art and hearts. For a girly-girl, they are a dream come true. For others, they may be more than a little overwhelming.On a practical note, my older daughter was concerned that the design of the pages means that you can't just write on them and then rip it out to hand in to a teacher, like you can with an ordinary notebook with perforation. Also, the design on the pages means that it would likely be hard for many teachers to take any work done on them seriously. They are like notebooks of stationery, not just notebooks of notebook paper--even the pages are thicker and more substantial than ordinary notebook paper. The covers are very thick and protective, much more so than most notebook covers. The writing inside the cover for schedule-writing etc. is in Spanish and Portuguese, so if you don't know one of those languages you may have to guess what they are saying, use Google translate, or write your own labels in English. Or just ignore it. It's a pretty minor part of the whole package.However, for encouraging journaling, personal note-taking, or any other writing endeavor meant to be kept in the book and for oneself, these are incredibly appealing. I was tempted to nab one for my own journaling, and I'm 44! It's just hard to resist such intense cuteness, and brings a sense of special-ness to regular writing.These are definitely for a niche market, but for the right ultra-feminine student or journaler, they are simply awesome.

These are adorable. They come from Brazil so all the written portions are in Spanish and Portuguese, but it's not that difficult to suss out the meanings. The drawings are so cute, if you have a girly girl, she's going to love them. Inside there is a pocket to hold papers, and cute stickers to share with friends. There is also a generous quantity of writing paper for taking notes or writing stories and assignments.My only problem with these notebooks is that the spiral binding bends much too easily. Also the notebook paper does not have holes punched in it for easy placement in a binder. But the cuteness of these notebooks will make your little (or big) girl the envy of all her friends!
