Rainforest Escape: My Island Animal, Exotic Flower and Tropical Plant Color Book Paperback – July 19, 2016

I’m in love with this coloring book! The images are unbelievable and the paper is beautiful. It’s not 300 gsm like actual watercolor but it’s taking water pretty well as I’m using my Inktense pencils and then water to liquify the pigment. I took the page out of the book and taped it down as much as I could without taping over parts of the image. There is some warping from the water but that’s to be expected. I do think that trying to use water media while in the book wouldn’t be the best. I’m really excited to try my Prismacolor pencils next. The tooth of the paper will allow for many layers which is my favorite way to color. I highly recommend this book. It’s really special.

Subject Matter: 5/5If you consider yourself as advanced colorist, sick and tired of paisleys that fill any and every object, this is the book you should try. Lineart is detailed and beautiful. You color what you see as is. No paisley(not that I hate paisley stuff, but there are too many out there)Paper: 5/5Single-side printed pages, thick watercolor paper and perforated page - exactly what every coloring book should do but don't! This book will work with all colored pencils, markers and watercolor. Personally I don't know if artists have any say in paper quality but I sure hope they do catch on this. It is very annoying to see books with gorgeous art, only with meh paper. I am willing for pay for quality.Coloring Medium: 5/5This book is intended for heavy materials like watercolor or markers. While markers still might shadow(but not bleed) to the back side it takes both marker inks and watercolors very well. The pages are perforated so it is easy to tear out each page - you shouldn't have to worry about something bleeding through. Personally I am a heavy marker user and have not had bleeding incident with this book yet. Do take note that markers(especially alcohol-based) will feather a bit when you are coloring fine/tiny tipped areas like tips of leaves etc.Total: 5/5I strongly feel that there should be more books like this. I am tired of being limited by poor paper quality or having to give up what I like to color with, by the way the book is printed(single/double side printing thus limiting markers etc). While this is one of higher priced books it is definitely worth it, but may be not right for beginners. Personally, I am very happy with two books came so far and will by her all future books.

Bought this used like new came in beautiful shape only having been shelved on in a bookstore so when I bought it I bought it to watercolor inn in I will be honest with you the paper is phenomenal the imagery is obviously tropical so if you’re not interested in that probably this is in the book for you but it’s great for water coloring and since I’m new at water coloring I figured this would be a great way to go and I’m so happy I bought it and I’m also grateful that it came in the condition it did as fast as it did and if I had known how good it really was I might have bought a new copyBut this is as new and my work and it has been wonderfully fantastically fun! I have used Daniel Smith mission Gold M Graham and Sennelier Watercolors abd NO OILLING EVEN WITH LOTS IF WATER- The paper is great I love this I would recommend this if I could give it 10 stars I would. The parent is a WIP that I messed up but the Kingfisher I think came out pretty good and that was the first when I did and I love the paper I fell in love with this while water coloring that bird. I only used three colors – and there are flowers and leaves and just so many ways I can practice my water coloring I just love this. ( all of these are WIP – I’m still trying to figure out a background for that Kingfisher) No I want to get her book Island escape!

Rainforest Escape is a beautifully designed adult coloring book and is very upscale. I love it, and would have given it 5 stars but some of the pages fold out really long and are a little difficult to color, but are beautiful when finished. I like smooth pages, although these are a little rough to the touch and have a beige background, they are so much fun to color and give a different look that I like. I love that the prints on many pages are on one side only. The pages that fold out long, the prints will face each other when the page is folded back in the book after coloring. You can also fold one of the flaps under the single print pages when coloring. I have used Prismacolor Premiere soft pencils, gel pens and Platinum pencils so far, all ordered from Amazon. The Prismacolor Premier soft pencils give a more waxy brighter look and the Platinum pencils give a deep rich color but not quite as bright as the Prismacolor, and aren't quite as soft or waxy with the application. Of course Prismacolor Premiere are the best but the Platinum are a great lower budget pencil and I have throughly enjoyed using them also. book. The designs in this book are adorable and different, and especially if you like birds and flowers. I wish there had not been quite as many pages with just leaves, but this is a great coloring book!

Definitely like the pictures in this book. A lot of them are fold outs though. Paper quality is excellent and heavy. Takes every medium with no problem. Does take water as long as you don't soak it. Nice and thick book. I will be purchasing more of this work in the future

This was a lovely surprise of a watercolour colouring book. The images are lovely and the watercolour paper is pretty decent considering it is a colouring book. I have come across some really rubbish paper masquerading as watercolour paper in some of these types of books in the past, but the paper in this is nice and quite thick. I have used some heavier washes and it buckled slightly but it dried relatively flat later. The illustrations are really pretty and there is something different on each page from the more simple 1 page drawing to a fold out, more detailed double page illustration.The theme is the carribean, somewhere that the illustrator has spent a lot of time living. This makes sure that the images are full of life, birds, foliage and animals that make the carribean islands so beautiful. This book was a lovely little treat and I will definitely be buying the rest in the series.
