I have used the basket once and found that it does the job in terms of collecting the fly line nicely and releasing it when casting. The line didn't seem to get tangled and the fingers didn't pull or mess up my casting.However, the adjustable side of the belt buckle slips annoyingly. I had to sort of tie a knot to keep it from slipping off. I'm not sure how well this will work for longer trips. It seems like there is something missing that would keep the loose part of the belt from slipping back through the buckle.There is also a second strap and clip that came with it which I am not sure how to use. It seems like the clip fits a notch on the basket itself and the strap could go over a shoulder or around your neck for extra support, but nothing in the packaging indicates what it is for. My last stripping basket didn't have this so it is sort of a mystery to me.

I ordered this basket as a last minute item for some surf fly fishing. It came the next day right before my trip, but it didn't come with the silicone spikes as advertised. Everything else was as expected (for the price), but I feel as though it would have fed line out more evenly with the silicone spikes.Do some DIY when you get it before you take it out. I drilled out the existing holes to 1/4" and made some additional holes because the existing holes don't allow the water in it to exit quickly enough, especially for that occasional wave that surprises you, and it'll bog you down quick.It is about as comfortable as it looks. For $35 you can't ask for much and it's just a piece of bare plastic riding your hip (aside from the wide webbing belt. I would be more careful if I used it wearing waders paying special attention to any wear and tear it was doing to my expensive waders.

No silicon spikes included! Are they or they are not supposed to be included? Amazon and the seller need to get their collective descriptions together. A bit bigger then i expected. Belt would not stay tight. Male half of buckle was incorrectly installed. Works fine after i installed it correctly. It came with an additional, i assume, around the neck strap. But no instructions or logical or obvious way to install it. I am sure it will work fine.

I bought this for a trip to Florida for using while wading the flats. It worked great and was comfortable to wear with me being a bigger(3x) guy. I found this basket to be far superior to the fold up one I used the year before. If I were to be use it in the surf I'd probably make a couple drain holes, but didn't get a chance to with junegrass all over. I'd recommend this as an alternative to the major brands...unless you just want it to say "X" this is probably your best bet.

Have had this out on the water a dozen times and I really like it. You will have to drill drain holes when you first get it but that is really easy. The sides are not as high as some of the other more expensive ones but I prefer that for the fact that it is not in my way when stripping streamers. Sometime the line falls out when I am stripping fast and not as precise but I do not find it a bother that much. The plastic is not as ridged as some of the others which I like as when it gets hung up on things hiking it tends to flex. Also contours my hips just right so wearing it for a long time you don't notice it is there at all.
