What is the purpose of this funnel tip? Will it make for a stronger cup of coffee?

If you are switching over to the stainless steel funnel instead of the plastic one that comes with the coffeemaker, then you need this tip. What this funnel tip does is makes the hole(where the water comes out from coffee ground part into the carafe) of the stainless steel funnel smaller. The hole in the plastic funnel is smaller than the stainless steel one. This tip makes the stainless steel hole the same size as the plastic one. The hole in the stainless steel funnel is too big so water just pours out of the hole and doesn't sit in the coffee grounds long enough to get enough coffee strength. The funnel tip simply makes the hole smaller so water pours out more slowly, allowing it to steep in the coffee grounds longer. I tried the stainless steel funnel with and without this tip. The coffee is like water without the tip and the water pours through without steeping in grounds. If you are using the plastic funnel, you do not need this.
