Good Value
I've owned these for 4 years- Very dependable. I just bought my 3rd this month.PRO - doesn't leak. I expected something with this much hydrostatic pressure , to be susceptible to leaks. Nope ! - easy to cleanNote- Unlike many feeders, these sections won't separate by just pulling straight apart. You'll need to "pry" the two bottom halves apart, at a "rotating" angle. Just pry/pivot, one edge, then keep rotating it away from other piece. The plastic is flexible enough that you won't do any damageCONS - cheap hanger bracket. I swapped it out for a 2inch "S" hook (easier on the fingers too!) - too few ports. Most experts recommend changing juice ever 4 days. So don't use this as an excuse to leave it up for a week or more. The migrating "herd" that requires this, needs more the 4 ports, so i just drilled 4 more. Even without the "flower" , the hummingbirds Don't mind at all - (not really a 'CON', but just a consequence of an 80 oz feeder. The are heavy when full, so if you drop it, or the hook fails, expect it to crack/break. If you're worried about your hanging hardware, you might consider some cushions beneath. You'll still lose the juice, but you won't break the container.

Works for Me
I purchased this 80 once feeder because it seemed like the best large feeder on the market and I needed to get another large nectar container for my many hummingbirds. There is one other available on Amazon, but it has a very narrow neck that would make cleaning and filling more difficult. I have a discontinued Perky 128 once, which is fantastic but fragile, I like the size and construction of this feeder. I gave it only 4 stars for the same reasons everyone else has mentioned--too few feeder ports and the perch may be too close. I purchased the First Nature 3091 as suggested, but the base did not screw in tightly. So I drilled additional holes In the Songbird and added spare Perky yellow flower petals. The birds seem to like it. They use both the red and yellow flower petal ports and they do perch. I can't quite tell if they prefer my other, Perky, feeders (16 oz, 48 oz, and 128). The photo was taken the day I hung it up. It is next to the Perky 48 oz, which on the first day was the feeder of choice, but given the familiarity that is to be expected.

BAD
Capacity is great, but three things:1. Most importantly, there is a major design flaw. The reservoir doesn't fill up on its own - you must tilt the jug to get it to empty into the base (then you'll see a bubble come up). THIS IS WHY THIS FEEDER ONLY GETS ONE AND TWO STARS, on other sites. And why there are so many complaints that the birds try it out for a few times, then disappear - BECAUSE THERE IS NO SOLUTION IN THE BASE!!!After reading the above, seems to me that nobody in their right mind would want to read further, but here it goes:2. The company deceives the customer into thinking it is a jar. It is plastic. Lighter, yes. But it already starts out cloudy and, with the sumner's heat, plastic gets hot, warps and emits toxins. Who wants to feed the hummers toxins? Plus, with cloudy plastic, you can't watch out well for cloudy water, slime and the dreaded black mold, all of which indicate fermentation, bacteria and other hummingbird killers. Remember folks, if the birds contract any of the above from the feeders, their tongues (among other things) can get infected easily, get swollen (then they can't eat or drink) and then they die a painful death.3. Another big complaint about the feeder is that the base only has four holes (ridiculous) and the perch is an odd distance from the feeding holes, making it awkward and uncomfortable for the little guys to stretch their necks so far. What's with this manufacturer? Is it really rocket science, to develop a sensible, efficient and cleanable feeder?I thought all of the above problems meant I merely got a lemon (plus it had a broken perch) - but I returned the first one, only to find that the replacement was just as bad.Only idea I have, although it is an expensive one, is buy the Dr. JB 3091 model base and combine it with this model's 80-oz. jug. Maybe that's why they don't fix these design flaws - so you have to buy two and combine.

Finally found a good large hummingbird feeder
I live in San Diego and in summer I get so many hummingbirds that easily go thru 1-2 gallons of sugar water. I had three 48 oz feeders up before Dr JB. Sadly, none of the other brands that hold 48 oz or gallon have worked. They leak or attract more bees than birds. Ive had to seal and return the rest. however, even with the ones I resealed, I have to refill my feeders at least once a day. I was very skeptical when I came across Dr JB feeder online but had to try. I ordered 80 oz one and I love it. It doesn't leak and doesn't attract bees. The quality of product is good too. I have to see how it will handle the constant sun here in San Diego. The only improvement I can see this product could use is that the stands are too close to the base so the birds hover rather than sit like my other feeders. I am so happy with this after what I've been thru with other brands that I just ordered another one.

Not interchangeable with other sizes as advertised.
Really an 80 ounce bottle with ONLY 4 PORTS. I ordered your 32 ounce size because of the many ports in hopes it would interchange. It does NOT! Your slogan says it's interchangeable. I had to buy a rubber washer to go between the two. If not it leaks real bad. So your almost $25.00, 80 oz feeder, plus your 32 oz feeder @ around $15.00 and a washer at $2.50, total $42.50. Little steep! I will say the ease of cleaning these feeder from Dr JB is the best I have ever found. Nice large opening, easy tray cleaning, and it DOES NOT LEAK, unless you order two different sizes. Please - make a large 80 oz bottle with 8 to10 feeding ports. Can't be that hard to fix. Do what I did, buy a washer. Just sale it all together. AND don't say it's interchangeable when it's not.
