The Big Shot Caller

I recommend for Salsa dance enthusiasts. You may see a part of yourself in the dancers journey. It goes away from Salsa and explores the main characters spiritual journey to find himself. It's good but does get a little off track. Salseros should definitely check it out.

This movie is different from the one's your used too. But, it has a good storyline and the Dancing is really good when it finally hits it's stride. It is more like Salsa. This is more a sleeper so...

Enjoyed the end tough to get through

I haven't written a review in a long time. I stumbled across this movie, watched it and fell in love with it. David Rhein is so touching as Jamie, a throwaway gentle soul. He has an eye condition that puts people off so they avoid him and he in turn learns to avoid people so he won't get rejected. Jamie is such a pitiful character because he desperately wants to connect with someone but he has given up and is pretty much an emotional zombie. Enter his older sister who sees Jamie's worth and encourages him to love and accept himself even though she too struggles with the same issues. Jamie begins taking salsa lessons and fails miserably at first but he never gives up. Seeing Jamie's dedication and determination to do one thing really well was moving. Supposedly this film was based on true events and it truly is inspirational. It is a character driven film so some might find it boring. I was never bored as the characters are so real I felt like I knew them and was seeing their struggles first hand. It also made me aware of my own insensitivity toward people who have visible "defects." At any rate I loved this film and have added it to my dvd collection. I highly recommend this sweet little gem of a film. 2/28/15

This movie was terribly made, it was painful to watch, not worth the money spent, would not recommend this to anyone. One of the worst movies I have seen in a long time.
