These containers are quite useful and attractive as well. The collapsible feature is terrific for kids with backpacks. We have had no leaking issues. This item is an improvement on an older similar item that had a different gasket sealing the lid. This one performs much better. I do put this in the dishwasher, sometimes on the bottom rack which is not recommended. I run my dishwasher very hot and have had no trouble with the heat damaging the dish. The colors are very trendy and attractive. The tiny lid on top of the large lid is meant to hold dip or salad dressing. My kids don't use it since it is only held in place by friction. I'd hate to open my backpack and find salad dressing all over my chemistry because the lid failed to hold. The dish has never stained in spite of holding food such as spaghetti. It doesn't seem to hold food smells either though i will say when it was new, it had somewhat of a "new" smell of its own that wasn't pleasant. It soon dissipated.

The three compartments are not to divide the food. If you look really closely at the picture - it's just a collapsible bowl. In the lid, there is the smallest ever compartment and a fork holder. Ostensibly, the compartment might hold dressing. Practically, it would be a good place to store two quarters, maybe three quarters. Coins, not cups. You could carry very small pieces of granola in it in a single layer. Definitely not a crouton. I don't really know what this compartment would be used for. If you put liquid in it, it would go everywhere when attempting to dump out the dressing, b/c it's not going to pour . It would be a great compartment for fresh cracked pepper. I'm returning this as I was looking for something that separated food within the main compartment. If you're looking for a collapsible bowl with a space fork and a compartment for storing saffron, you'll be pleased! Very well made and of great quality. I was just a little click-happy and did not find out what the three compartments in the product title referred to.

I had to return these because the small 3 compartment does not have 3 separate compartments like the large one (which I also have and love.) I thought they would be great for the kids lunch boxes to keep fruit separate from the sandwich etc. but after exchanging one set for another and getting the same wrong thing twice I'm really bummed out. The only good thing is that amazon was amazing about the replacement and returns. If I could actually find the small 3 compartment one I would buy several. I love the big one. I don't care about the collapsing I just like how well it keeps everything from combining. The silly fork spoon is a little childish for adult lunch so I pack real silverware, but could be great for kids.

These containers are the best! We use a lot of the Smart Planet items for our lunches. I hate to microwave plastic containers, and the glass ones are kind of heavy if you put a few of them in one bag, so these are just right. They are light weight and the fact that they are collapse-able makes them even better so you can select the size that you need. They will wear out after many, many uses, but we still have ones that we got over 5 years ago.

This is a great little meal kit, but when I purchased it said 3 compartments (small) I ordered the large which was too big but in fact had 3 compartments, this is only one. the description confusion doesn't take away from the product though. It's a great size, easy for my son to open & close, will fit a sandwich without being expanded and fits into our new Rubbermaid lunch box while expanded! (Shown in pic) I'm excited to start using it!!

This does not have 3 compartments. The small size is only one compartment. The large size is cool - but will not fit in kids' lunch boxes.

Even when the lid is on -- pretty disappointing. Also, silicone, by it's nature, attracts dust and dirt, so be warned.

It is not very practical. It is too big for one meal. Because it is soft it won't protect the food from mashing. Too much money for its value.

As expected. Good quality.
