It's going to be a 42 but if you want a more exact size you check the fit finder on the Ecco website where you can put in your foot size in cm and it'll tell you your UK and EU size.

Q: I believe ecco only do regular and extra width fittings yet on many of the shoes here the width is described as " schmal " or small. can you explain ?

I've got slightly wide feet and find their standard shows to be very comfy. Definitely wouldn't describe them as narrow.

Q: What’s the arch support like in these?

it’s fine very supportive. I have to say the boots after initially being great lasted me only 14 months of light use before the fell apart and I binned them.
